Tell me about belly panels on jeans & shorts in the Spring and Summer? Why are all the shorts I'm finding full-panels? It's already record-breaking heat here (in the 90s) and I can't fathom wanting full-panels in the summer! So far, I am just folding the panels down a couple times. My sister is in her 3rd tri and says she doesn't think her jeans and shorts would stay up like that anymore. I have a feeling I'll be much bigger this time around when I could wear my normal non-maternity jeans and shorts much of my last pregnancy. I'm shopping for jeans and shorts but struggling over the panels/no-panels styles.

I think I am just going to wear dresses this summer. The full panel on pants and shorts will be toooo much. (I wore full panel shorts on Sat and I was miserable. )

@shopaholic: yeah I had the same problem! I ended up folding down the panels as well! and as it got hotter and I got bigger, it was all about skirts and dresses, really.
One brand of jeans I highly, highly recommend is the J Brand Mama J jean. They're like regular stretchy jeans but the sides have small stretchy panels. Quite pricey but I wore mine almost every day for months so it was worth it for me. in fact, I still wear them sometimes, at 10 mo pp, because they're so comfy! -

I was giant pregnant in the summer and full panels were hell!!!!! I say avoid at all costs. I k ow they make some elastic waist shorts at motherhood

@autumnlove: @BabyTsMom: Isn't it hard to chase around a toddler in dresses and skirts? That's the issue I foresee, especially at the playgrounds, splash pads, and DL.
@BabyTsMom: Yes, I loved my J Brand mama jeans last time around. But I was mostly pregnant in the Fall/Winter. Maybe I'll check for some lighter jeans and shorts from them.
@yellowbird: Do you know if they would stay up in later pregnancy? Or constantly tugging on them?

When I was pregnant with my summer baby I just wore dresses! Mostly knee length ones but some maxis too.

ETA: I don't know if I'm going to need my shorts or not at the end of this pregnancy 10 weeks to go. I lived in dresses and skirts my late summer pregnancy with LO.

I wore the full panel in the heat of the summer and it wasn't a huge deal. We get tons of heat and pretty high humidity here (Kentucky), and the panel helped me to feel cooler because I wasn't sweating all over my shirt. Plus, the low panels didn't stay up very well once I was 32 weeks +.

I had a July baby last time and wore full panels throughout and never had an issue. I live in a walking city too (I was on summer break from work) and walked everrrrywhere the last month of my pregnancy. Never had issues with itchiness or stomach sweatiness--I mean, if I was sweating, I was sweating everywhere and didn't notice any extra sweat there, if you know what I mean.
Also, since I live in a walking city.....I found I couldnt' wear skirts on super sweaty days if I was going to be walking outside quite a bit--pregnancy brought on the chub rub--I had never experienced it before and was shocked that I would get home and have like, a rash between my legs from walking and sweating on my legs. So gross. So then I started wearing my full panel shorts and pants the majority of the time.

I loved the full belly panels! They helped keep any sweat from showing on my shirt
and they stayed up much better than under belly. And congrats!!

@shopaholic: honestly I have problems with all pants staying up. My full panel maternity jeans fall down constantly and I'm huge right now.

I found anything other than full panel to be really uncomfortable- I hated my Demi panel pants by the end. I had one pair of full panel shorts that I wore hugely pregnant in July and didn't mind it, but I mostly wore loose dresses and skirts, or I had a couple of pairs on non mat, stretchy foldover shorts and capris. But I wasn't chasing a toddler around in the dresses, nor was I winning any fashion awards in the cotton stretch pants...

I wore full panel during last pregnancy and loved it. The fabric was never too much for the heat and I found I was pulling up the below belly shorts more!
Since I'm having an end of July baby, I am planning on doing more dresses to avoid this problem of bottoms

I wore dresses, but honestly you get used to the belly band, i actually liked it. think of it as a cami.

Unrelated onto the heat, I've been told the under belly panels are really tight and uncomfortable in the last trimester.

I didn't go full term, but I was 33 weeks by late July in TN (so very hot, very humid), and I was never uncomfortable in full panels. I prefer them in general.
