We are talking about taking a beach vacation this year with our then 2 year old and 3 month old. We're located in the midwest and would prefer to drive so we've talked about SC or AL but are open to anywhere in between.

Ideally, I'd like an area that's not too commercialized. The idea of a house footsteps from the beach without being tooo expensive really appeals to me. I've heard Dauphin Island, AL is this way but was wondering what else is out there.
