DD is one month and we have Britax B-Safe & B-Agile system. Thinking it's better to get another car seat for my mom that will be helping to watch LO a few days a week.
Should I get her the same brand? Or get her a convertible so we don't both have to switch? What makes the most sense?
I also plan to have #2 in the next 2-3 years.

Could you just get an extra base for your Mom's car? You wouldn't need an extra carrier (as the carrier would always be with the baby).

My parents just got an extra base for the infant seat and now they have a Graco convertible seat.

@Bluebonnet: Huh, never thought of that... Can the base and carseat from diff manufacturing years? The carseat/base I have is a hand me down.

@snowjewelz: yes, as long as the base is compatible it doesn't matter the manufacturer years. I would do this and then when the time comes and LO is bigger get a cheaper convertible car seat.

@snowjewelz: I would assume it wouldn't be a problem. Call the manufacturer to verify. A new base is a heck of a lot cheaper than a new carseat!

we have the tribute and bought it for out Nanny and the Grandparents. Its light so its easy to take it in and out of the car when they need extra space.

@snowjewelz: yeah, the different years don't really matter, as long as you get a base for the B-Safe. I just sold an extra base on Craigslist and the manufacturing date was December 2011-- the mom who bought it from me got her B-Safe in 2014 and everything works.
Check out CL for extra bases for cheap!

@snowjewelz: I think the bases (at least with the Chicco Keyfit) have a round color coded sticker on the -- you just have to match the sticker on the base to the same colored sticker on your car seat.
We have a Recaro Proride as our main car seat -- love, love, love it. I bought a second cheap car seat for Grandpa's car, and I HATE.IT. It's sooo much more cumbersome to put in, it's way lighter, and just doesn't feel nearly as safe.

@snowjewelz: We have a Foonf in our car and I greatly prefer it. The Pavilion is fine for my moms car though, she's only in it once a week.

Our main seats are a diono radian (mine) and a recaro proride (DH) and our backup seat is the evenflo tribute. Definitely no bells and whistles in that thing, but it is a safe seat, light and easy to install and remove. Better than the expired car seats (one had the bar that went over the baby's head!!) my MIL used to have!!!

Ditto for the Tribute mentioned above. It's our spare seat. The price is great, it's comfy (or so says my daughter who goes and sits on it in the garage all the time), and it's light! win/win/win

We bough my mom a convertible seat for her car because she watches our son daily while we work. We chose the Maxi Cosi Pria and it's been great. He's still comfortably rear-facing in it at 26 months. He will be able to use that seat for many years to come. My husband's truck actually had our "extra" seat in it and it gets used the least.

Eventually your mom is going to need a convertible seat in her car, right? So I'd go with just getting a convertible now and dealing with the inconvenience of having to put LO in the carseat rather than just snapping in the infant seat.
