Working on LO's Christmas list. This would be great to keep her occupied in the kitchen! Girlfriend loves music, so a musical element would be good if not too annoying. Suggestions?

Just don't get anything too small! We see kids in the hospital I work at all the time who have swallowed magnets. It can be a bad problem for them....
My friend just gave LO some similar ones from this brand, but I haven't put them out for him to play with yet:

My nieces and nephews have loved this:

ETA: I just saw that it says it is $129...that is outrageous! I don't know why it is that high! Maybe it is no longer produced

We had an animal one that sang little songs and taught the animal sounds that we liked. Its the "LeapFrog Fridge Farm Magnetic Animal Set". We also put up a magnetic dry erase board in the playroom that worked nicely so the kids could use the magnets in both places.

We have these on los christmas list! I think the entire back is the magnet (rather than a small magnet that could come loose and be dangerous) so they should be safe.

We bought these magnets for LO when she was 11 months. She loves animals but also I liked how the whole back was a magnet rather than a smaller magnet glued on that she could potentially swallow. That being said, I still only put up about 10 of the largest sized animals and am saving the smaller sized ones until she's older, in case she puts them in her mouth.
This is the animal set but maybe they have other designs your LO would like? They don't make noise, that would be cool though!

We have this leapfrog schoolbus/letters magnet set. For songs, it plays the alphabet and wheels on the bus. It also sings a little song when you put a letter in the bus. My daughter is 16 months and she likes pressing the button for the songs and singing along. She hasn't shown too much interest in the letters yet.

Thanks everyone! I think we are going to put the Leapfrog one @cranberry: linked to on our wish list
