Our current video monitor is worthless since the video monitor part broke so I am on the search for a new monitor. Since we are expecting baby #2, I want to go ahead and get a monitor that has two cameras and one base. Does anyone have any recommendations? If so, how does it work? Do you just know which baby is crying based on the sound and then flip through the video monitor to see them? Thanks!

We have the motorola mbp35 and we love it!!! It has a "scan" mode so it'll stay on one kid for a few seconds, then switch over to the other kid... so when one starts crying you can turn the screen on and see which one it is. You can set it to be on just one kid or the other, or scan between the two. (up to four, I think!)
I wanted something with a picture-in-picture function but I don't think any monitors have that yet. The scan function is just fine though.

@mrs. wagon: thanks for the reply! I have bee tempted to buy the MBP33 but this will be our third monitor in 14 months (I don't know what we are doing to those things!) so I am hesitant to spend the money. It gets pretty good reviews on amazon at least

True fact, we have two separate monitors. We had a video monitor with DD for a long time, and then it broke shortly before DS was born. We ended up just buying two cheap audio monitors, instead of investing in a whole new double monitor. We really only use both monitors when we're downstairs and the kids are upstairs; when we're upstairs, we turn on DD's monitor, but we can DS just fine since his room is like 5 feet away. Once DD learns to open her door on her own and come out of her room, we'll probably ditch her monitor altogether, so this works fine for us right now.

@Honeybee: have you ever had a problem with them running interference together?
Our current monitor is sooo annoying with the static. I can be laying on the couch (the monitor is on the bar 8 feet away) and it will get all staticky if I move a leg so that stupid thing determines how we lay at night.

@MrsHotDog: Nope, we've never had issues with them interacting. they're both Fisher Price sounds and lights monitor (I don't know the model), and we keep them on different frequencies. We also use white noise in DS's room, so his monitor is always a little loud, but otherwise, we haven't had any issues.

My cousin has a summer infant one and it works well.
