A friend of mine is due in a few weeks, and I just realized I haven't sent her anything yet. A part of me wants to buy off-registry, but I can't think of what. Did you receive any off-registry gifts that you loved?
She sent us something off-registry, so I feel okay thinking about it, even though I'll probably end up picking something from her registry.
The best non-registry gift we received was a hand-knit blanket from a friend's mother.

My cousin in California sent me a Chewbeads necklace and now I'm OBSESSED! I asked for another for Christmas and just bought another with a groupon! I loved it because it's a gift for me (pretty jewelry) and for LO (she can chew on it!).

@TheHistoryofUs: I just ordered LO another Taggies blanket and a couple more Taggies toys. She loves to nom the tags and the toys are easy for her to manage/manipulate (she is 5 months).

I gave a monogrammed piggy bank and wrote a cutrsy note on the baby's first dollar. The parents and grandparents loved it.

My co-workers got us a gift certificate to a local cloth diapering service that covered eight weeks - such a nice treat not to have to worry about laundry at the beginning! And a friend knit us an absolutely beautiful blanket. We also loved receiving books to build up LO's library.

baby clothes! i've hardly had to buy any! and we soon discovered that our favorite thing to put him are footed pjs with zippers not buttons! we did get a lot of hats that i couldnt use because L;s head was too big for them from the start!

Maybe look at the registry and see what swings and stuff she got and get her the batteries for them? That's one thing I wished I had gotten. My MIL gave me the swing (which I appreciate) but now I need a slew of batteries for it.
