We are planning on making a 2-3 day trip to the US in the next couple of weeks and I'm always up to finding a great deal when it comes to hotel rates.
Other than bidding on Priceline for a room, any tips on finding a better deal? We know what hotel we want to stay at. Not sure that helps.

If you want a specific hotel, you're pretty much at their mercy. Priceline won't let you see the hotel until after you've paid. If I don't use Priceline, I usually check Kayak.

@Mrs. Yoyo: well we can go with other choices, but this one actually is kid friendly and has water features, microwave and fridges in each room. (and free wifi)

Well, if you're willing to chance it, Hotwire is the other site I'd suggest looking at beyond bidding on Priceline and doing a normal search on Kayak. But given how much of a difference kid -friendly stuff can make, I might just pay rack where you want to stay, just to be sure

@Mrs. Yoyo: I think I might just try and call the hotel and see if they can offer me a better deal. We are most likely doing to go during the week and the hotel will be empty... so maybe we will be lucky?!

@sweetchic: Nothing very glamorous! haha. Probably Plattsburg or Burlington. We want to go to Adriondack Scenic Railroad for Mavrick. HE LOVES trains! and we are going to buy a double stroller. haha.

I recently discovered airbnb.com and have used it twice. You rent lodgings from homeowners for really good prices. I love having access to a kitchen/kitchenette when I travel so I love renting houses.
