Is there a "best" time of day to do an opk? I've read on here people saying mid-afternoon (2ish) is best, I just picked up First Response digital ovulation tests (20 sticks) with the Yes or No screen. The instructions say first thing in the morning but from reading stuff online I'm now now sure.

I think its best to follow the instructions of the test you bought.

My instructions of mine (with the smiley face- I forget the brand) said that midday was best. That's what I did and got a BFP with. Apparently your body doesn't fully produce the horomone it checks for first thing in the AM, and it's easier to pick up a few hours later. I know Fertility Friend touches on this too.

I always took mine in the afternoon. I wouldn't drink or pee after 1 and then would test around 430 when I leaving work.

I read LH surges between noon and 8pm, and best time of day to take them is around 2. I always took them between around 2 and 6pm.

I'd probably follow the instructions you got with the test. But I got the wondfo's and always tested after work, anytime from 6pm-10pm, and haven't had any problems getting a very clear positive.

I bought the wondfo's ones also and tested in first thing in the morning and then in the early evening after work to make sure I covered my basis.

I had the smiley face brand as well. I usually tested mid-afternoon, but would sometimes do a second one at another point in the day. (Because I was obsessed, and had heard that the surge can sometimes be very brief. I was worried I'd miss it!)

As previously mentioned, you should generally follow the directions for the test you're using.
I was using the dollar store OPKs when I got home from work around 6 p.m. each day. Over the course of a couple of weeks, I went from seeing no second line at all to seeing a plainly visible light line.
When I got the sense it was getting close, I tested at 2 p.m. just to see if it would give me a better result. That time I happened to get a second line that was pretty much as dark as the first. Just to confirm it was actually a positive, I tested again at 8 p.m. The test line was easily twice as dark as the control.
Both would have counted as positive as per the instructions for my OPK, which said the line had to be as dark OR darker.

@PurplePumps: Ditto! I took mine after work around 8:30 p.m. and never had a problem.
