Another vote for Gulf Coast. Navarre, FL is really pretty and a bit off the beaten path (so not as crazy busy as Destin, Orange Beach, Gulf Shores). That's actually where I got married!

@BananaPancakes: I've been considering that, we did this with my parents/siblings last summer and it was so fun! We spent about $600 per family for the house and then about $200 for food. It was about four hours from home.

Well, I obviously say Cape Cod so you can come see me! But, we went to Ocean Isle Beach, NC in 2007 with my family and it is the perfect family getaway spot. Houses and condos for rent, very family friendly, can walk everywhere on the island, but is only a 20 or so minute drive from Myrtle Beach. Someday, I will be vacationing there again. It was awesome.

@bpcmarj: I live about 20 minutes from OIB, I actually got married there (not on the beach, but at a chapel on the waterway)!

We have lots of family friendly beaches around here. I think it's awesome, but I'm a little biased

We are headed to Charleston SC later summer/early fall. I can't speak for the beaches but I've heard nothing but good things about the area!

@lilteacherbee: my mom lives in Wilmington, so when we get to NC now, that's where we go. But, OIB is just special I think. Quaint and quiet and wonderful Love that you were married there!

@Mrs. Pen: Come to NY! After visiting your relatives on LI, you could cross the Long Island Sound by ferry and visit Mystic, CT and/or Block Island, RI.

@bpcmarj: wow, that's practically where I am (just a few miles south of Wilm)! I grew up closer to OIB in the Southport/Oak Island area!

My province borders Maine so we head there for vacations every now and then. Bar Harbor and Camden are 2 beautiful spots!

@Weagle: I heart Seaside. My favorite beach spot. We always stay in Seagrove where places are less $ since its older. We just went a couple of weeks ago and I wish I could go back!

@Mrs. Pen: outer banks!! its so beautiful and natural there. I would check out Roanoke island. its island that you have to take a free ferry to from the main island. its out of a story book, that's how pretty and peaceful it is there!!! its very lowkey but tons to do in nature. beach and sound. lighthouse (biggest in north America) no boardwalk (I consider that a plus!) not overly populated. quaint bed and breakfasts and beach houses. good food.
