So our clinic does a white elephant party every year for the holidays. The limit is $25 and it's 95% women ranging from early 30s to mid 60s. The last 3 gifts I gave were a succulent plant, a bottle of wine and a honey sampler from a local farm. Gift cards are allowed but discouraged.

My friends do this and we are always stealing scarves and jewelry. Usually there are a few gift cards that are popular too. Some of my friends love Christmas decor as gifts too.

We're doing this with friends this year. I got a seasonal gift: tea towels, hand towels (Christmas/winter themed), hot chocolate, and two reindeer mugs. I initially had picked up a seasonal soap dispenser.

I like all the above ideas, as well as a chocolates gift basket, and recipes-in-a-jar.

My favorite gift for stuff like this is something small from the bins in Sephora. You can get something luxurious in a small size. Not just the bins but they're a good start. I also saw a really nice Josie Maran set there just today for $24!

Ours was "animal" theme but I got ceramic owl measuring spoons from Etsy that I love to this day. And an owl bottle opener that is way nicer than what I own.

Some of the big favorites are always wine and scratch tickets but those are not acceptable everywhere. More acceptable favorites are usually good quality tea, coffee, or chocolate.

We have a local store that sells flavored olive oils and vinegars. They sell sets of three that come with a little recipe card using the different flavors.

Last year I gave a six pack of specialty beer that got stolen at least three times. I've also given homemade jam and pickles.
