Yes and no meds. I took myself off of meds about a year ago. Now I treat with therapy. Im sorry you are struggling I know they have pregnancy safe meds s if you want that option ask your ob and psych doc.

@anonysquire: They say they are pregnancy safe but how safe are they really. I think I just need something to use as an outlet but I can't figure anything out. My writing is sad, drawings are sad, everything I do to try to relieve everything is sad!

@littleblessings: Have you tried regular therapy to help in place of the meds?

Hi. As someone with a huge history of depression, I urge you to accept the treatment your doctor says you need. If they say the meds are safe, they are safe - and a darn sight safer than you getting more and more ill, not looking after yourself properly and not being able to care for your baby when he /she is here. Big, big hugs.

I have a milder form of bipolar called cyclothymia. I did not take medication through pregnancy, but I probably should have. PPD hit me really hard.
I really urge you to accept the interventions that your doctor suggests. Depression pre and post partum is no joke.

I also have cyclothymia, and pregnancy was mostly great for it. I found that severe sleep deprivation was a major trigger for it, unfortunately. I've also become a bit less regulated lately, which is a drag, because I'm doing all the things that have previously worked to cope.

@littleblessings: A friend of mine writes a blog and has documented her journey through pregnancy with bipolar, including post-partum psychosis. Go explore and feel free to email her - I'm sure she'd be willing to provide some support! http://bipolarmomlife.com/
