My best friend's birthday is coming up and her due date is month after that. Should I get her something baby related? Related to motherhood? I already got her something for the baby.
She is a graphic designer and loves pretty, arty things.

I would get her something for her and not the baby. I love getting gifts for lo, but now its to the point that she gets everything and I never ever get anything. Ever. So its nice when someone actually gives something t me that's for me.
But if you did want to go baby related, I saw a cute gift box idea on pinterest that helps with monthly baby pictures. You can buy monthly stickers, plain white onesies in sizes up to 12 months, and a pretty blanket for the background.

@artbee: I like the idea of a print so she can hang it in the nursery or somewhere else! I agree that I should probably get something not directly baby related.
@Mrs. Bee: I was thinking that but she isn't 100% sure on the name yet so I can save that gift for after the birth. I really want one of those myself, too! -
i agree with the ladies above - gift for her, not the baby. jewelry sounds nice - but i'm with you, wait til after the baby is born so you know the name for sure (people change names at the last minute!)
since she's into graphic design, i think a print for the nursery would be great! if she hasn't already gotten one.

Don't give her a baby related gift!!! I wish I had waited to tell family until well after my birthday instead of a couple weeks before because everyone bought me baby stuff only. When you're still adjusting to the fact that you're going to be a mother, it doesn't help when everyone forgets you're you and not just a mom. I was really upset about it (and I never care about gifts), but it made me feel really alone at the time.

@bree72: oh no! sorry that happened to you! i think that was definitely a bad idea if you were just adjusting to being a mom. i ended up getting her something that could go in the nursery or be used anywhere else in the house as decor so i think it's a safe bet. plus i found it on her pinterest so i know she wants it!
