Tomorrow's my birthday and I will be 8dpo... I am itching to take a test! I know that if it is positive it would be the best gift ever!! But if it's negative, I might be pretty down...
ETA - this is our first month of TTC
What do you all suggest?

8 DPO is pretty early still...You should wait and focus on celebrating your birthday! Happy early birthday!

8 days is pretty early for a positive. It would be a bummer to get a false negative than be bummer on your birthday. Wait a few more days!

I would also wait, I'd rather think that there's still a chance then to get upset because of a negative.... even if it's probably not accurate because it's too early. Happy birthday!

I got my BFP at 8 dpo, but it was super faint and I basically spent all day obsessing over whether it was a real line or not. By 10 dpo, it was obvious and I also got a digital BFP that day. I would suggest waiting so that you can enjoy your birthday. That way, you can be hopeful without stressing about it all day!

I'm the opposite of everyone- I'd rather poas and see the bfn and move on than wonder all day if it would be positive or not. 8 dpo is super early so if you get a bfn, you know it's too early a yeah, but at least you won't dwell. And you can have a drink guilt free

I got my bfn 9 dpo on a FRER (I tested positive 5 days later) so I say wait.

Wait darling. Enjoy your birthday. 10dpo is the earliest most non blood tests wills show.

I'm still scarred from a BFN on my birthday a couple years ago. Ruined. my. day. (plus af started later that day) I try to avoid all important days because of that. Random Tuesdays seem to be lucky for me
Plus 8 dpo is super early, I got the tiniest squinter this last time, and stressed over it for days until I tried a digital. Good luck and happy birthday though!!

You can test, but at 8DPO it will very likely be negative whether you're pregnant or not, so try not to be sad if it is.
I would test closer to 14DPO and just consider it a belated birthday surprise.

Oh shoot I voted to take the test but then realized you said 8 DPO. So I say wait! Enjoy your birthday, give it a few more days and then test!

I agree with others about waiting. I wouldn't want to ruin a birthday. I did test at 8DPO (I was very certain about ovulation too so I knew I wasn't any earlier then that). I saw a shadow but honestly it was nerve wracking for two days until I could see a real line.

I would wait! The chances of getting a BFP at 8DPO even if you are pregnant are pretty slim, and it'll just bum you out! *hug*

I'm the rare person in the DO IT camp! I tested positive at 8DPO, but I also tested a few days before (I felt so "off" that I wondered if I had gotten my o-date wrong) and I just reminded myself it's not over til I get AF. If you can see a BFN as a "maybe" and not a hard negative, then go for it. If you're going to be really torn up about a BFN though wait until at least 10DPO or when AF was due to test. Just depends on your mentality!

8 days is really early. I'm not saying don't POAS, but I would not get disappointed if it's negative.

I got a tiny positive the day before my birthday and agin on my birthday! Not sure of my dpo though.

After reading them all I reconciled in my mind to test.. and not be disappointed if i got a bfn since i'm only 8dpo.... then I got out of bed to some surprises and my excitement got me wanting to pee.... totally forgetting I had decided to test I threw away my first morning pee straight into the toilet :(:( I guess that's a sign that I really should wait.
DH wants me to drink some water and try to test anyway... he's excited lol. Would my urine be too diluted now?

@Glitter: yeah if you drink a bunch of water and try it will really dilute it. I say don't drink much and wait a few hours if you want to test today.

@Glitter: Yeah, I wouldn't drink extra water. Just hold it for several hours.
Maybe it was a sign to wait to test? Seeing a stark white pregnancy test is kind of jarring! I wouldn't definitely not test on my birthday unless I was 100% certain it would be positive..but I'm also a negative nancy when it comes to testing..so take that for what it's worth!

I tested 8DPO the first month we were TTC and was bummed to get a negative. Tested again 4 days later and it was positive! SO honestly, I'd just wait.
