Are any of you using a birthing ball during your pregnancy, and if so, would you recommend it? I was thinking of getting one to help with hip and back pain.

I used an exercise ball. I heard it helps get the baby in position so I was on it constantly. I give it credit for only having to push for an hour.

I got a 65cm fitness ball from walmart for under 10 bucks! I wanted to make sure it wasn't a weighted ball & just a plain balance/fitness ball.
It's been GREAT for my lower back & it's also helpful in getting baby to drop & engage.
Definitely worth it!

I really should get my husband to find ours! It's deflated somewhere now. My hips have been KILLING me.

OK I really need to find it now because I have had really really bad rib pain. Kinda like nerve ending pain right underneath my boobs? If the medicine ball can help relieve that I'm going to buy one tomorrow!

Loved it during my last few weeks of pregnancy, but hated it during labor. I still use it at my desk all the time.

I've been using my ball since the beginning of second tri (and I'm at the end now). I originally kept it under my desk at work and would switch it out to help with the back pain. Now I have it at home and am on it first thing in the morning and at night to help with back, hip, and pelvic pain. Plus I'm trying to bounce this baby out!

I used one in labor at home. It was the only way I could sit down. I loved it!

I used one for the third tri, esp. at night to roll my hips. It was totally worth it.
We also used it after the baby was born to bounce him and soothe him.

I bought one and have been using it, and its definitely worth it, sitting on it helps me feel so much better and eases some of the aches and pains I feel when sitting on a regular chair or sofa
