Where is everyone's favorite place to buy a pair of plain black leggings?! I don't wanna spend too much (like $39.50 at j.crew seems a little steep) but I don't want them to be see through either. :))
Thanks!

I have a pair from Kohls that aren't bad. They have held up well but do stretch out a bit.

loft have been my favorite so far! After a year of wear though the thigh wore thin and eventually got a hole - I sewed it up and still wear them though.
I need to find a pair I love that are better quality too.

@Thehistoryofus: I was just there and didn't see any. Grrrrr!
@lawbee11: We don't have an h&m anywhere near us... and I even checked their website and it says "Online shopping is not currently offered in your market. Please visit your local H&M for availability." Superlameballs!

@Ash: well you can order online
Oooh you're in Iowa!! I am your northern neighbor

I swear by the American Apparel Winter Leggings. They are a little pricey for leggings - $38. But they are AWESOME.
http://store.americanapparel.net/product/index.jsp?productId=rsatt328
They last FOREVER and are super thick so there's never any show-through.

My friend swears by Express leggings-- she says they are nice and thick and don't get see through. I think they are a little on the pricey side (for leggings) but they often have sales or buy one get one half off deals. I'm thinking of getting a pair soon.

@Coco Bee: I kinda want them for Thanksgiving... I procrastinate, don't judge. Yaaah hey der, neighbor lady! I have family in northwestern Minnesota--about an hour from Fargo. :)) I'm near Dubuque... but when wanting to shop, I wish I was closer to DesMoines.
blogger / wonderful cherry / 21616 posts
@Ash: oh yeah Fargo is hours away from me. I would die living that far north... and rural hahaha!

I got mine at Walmart for $5. Probably lower quality than you were going for....

@oliviaoblivia: I may have to check into them! Thanks for the link... makes my searching easier.
@Foodnerd81: buy one get one 50% off wouldn't be so bad. Dang, I might be making a trek to Express.
@sweetchic: I saw the ones at ON, but I was concerned my bum would show through them. How are they??
@artbee: Now I'm thinking at this rate, since I need them by Thursday, I might be checking Wal-Mart!!

@Rainbow Sprinkles: Oooo, good to know. I think our Target hides them cuz I can never find em. Maybe I need to look harder!!!

@Ash: mossimo brand!
They *should* have some right now! My target does.

@Ash: Leggings are really good Thanksgiving pants! Smart idea. I dislike the ones i have-- the waist is JUST too low so they are always sliding down and I'd rather them go over my stomach and smooth everything out. I should take my own advice, but I wonder how long until I want maternity ones.
pomegranate / 3716 posts
@Ash: The ones I got from ON are actually pretty thick and not see-thru at all!
honeydew / 7909 posts
@Rainbow Sprinkles: Probably cheap too, huh?!
@Foodnerd81: yeah, stretchy pants=more food in belly. Score!
@sweetchic: Darnit, I should've just bought them the other day when I was there.

I second @oliviaoblivia: on the AA Winter Leggings. Love them for the colder months!
I buy cheap $8 Mossimo leggings from Target all the time though the can get a little thin. Will have to check out Old Navy!
pineapple / 12793 posts
@shopaholic: The Mossimo ones are my summer leggings! They do get thin though.
I have ON maternity leggings and I've not been impressed. I've worn them maybe six times and they have a hole in the leg already. And they are a little on the see-through side.

@ash i love des moines! we're moving to the waterloo area next month
I never wore leggings pre-pregnancy but have been loving on them lately! I think the Vera Wang ones from Kohls are really nice and thick and the Old Navy ones are dirt cheap but definitely more see through. Both have fit throughout my pregnancy (39w) just under my belly (obvs)

@Ash: mine were from Kohls a year or two ago.
I love the idea of leggings for thanksgiving! I'm in!

@scg00387: I probably only get to des moines about once a year... dh's sister lives there. Since we're 3 hours away, I rarely get my shopping fix. :)) Waterloo is way close to me.
@Thehistoryofus: leggings are much better than jeans on a day that consists of lots of eating!
I told DH I'm heading out later today to go find some cheap leggings and he said "just spend the money on a good pair that will last!" But I'm still super interested in the AA ones so I still might be grabbing some cheapies today. Thanks everyone!

@lawbee11: are they opaque? I feel like I want some leggings but most are so sheer.

@lawbee11: are they opaque? I feel like I want some leggings but most are so sheer. @sweetchic: nice! do you need to go up a or down a size?
GOLD / watermelon / 14076 posts
@Clementine: They're not sheer at all! I wear them under my sweater dresses all the time. H&M has some cheaper ones for $9.95--they have a thin waistband and are a little more sheer. But I "splurged" for the $14.95 ones--they have a thick waistband and come up to my waist so I don't have to worry about them sliding down.
pomegranate / 3716 posts
@Clementine: I sized up, to allow for possible shrinkage (haven't washed it yet)...
GOLD / watermelon / 14076 posts
@Clementine: I just got my regular size. You can wash them in the washing machine but you are supposed to lay flat to dry. I have washed them a few times and haven't noticed any shrinkage.
blogger / watermelon / 14218 posts
@lawbee11: i think we had this same convo in another thread (I had the $9.95 pair) so I finally made it back to H&M to buy the $14.95 pair and OMG, what a difference. They come up super high on the waist so they smooth out my mommy tummy AND they are not see-thru at all!! They're super long but they're made in a way that I can scrunch them at the ankle and they won't get scrunchy in the knee. THANK YOU!!!
GOLD / watermelon / 14076 posts
@mrs. wagon: Glad you like them! I love love love the waistband--I wish more stores made the waistband that thick! Oh and I scrunch mine at the ankles too, but I think it looks kinda cute like that!
blogger / watermelon / 14218 posts
@lawbee11: seriously, so smart to smooth out instead of cut right into where I'm softest after all, they are leggings, so no need to look good or low cut in the waistband, right?
I tried on a pair at Ann Taylor sometime last year that had an even thicker, more secure waistband and they wre SOOO awesome but something like $40!! way too rich for my blood.
wonderful cherry / 21504 posts
@Ash: The Express leggings that my friend loves are 50% off right now-- not sure if it is only online or in stores too-- I'm going to check it out in store after work. Only $14.95.
blogger / wonderful cherry / 21616 posts
@Ash: thought of you! Livingsocial is having a deal on Athleta leggings, 2 for $29 which is a great deal I think! I'm super tempted to buy some! And they are Organic haha.
ETA: woops read the deal wrong, it's a brand called athletica that I've never heard of but either way it doesn't seem like a bad deal.
