My sister in law, who lives abroad, has hair that first color. It's a dye job!

If you want a rec, I know of a place in Zurich, they do awesome color...it's a salon run by Brits! I used to get my hair cut and colored there, they really know what they are doing.

@TheSwissWifeStyle: I used to go to Toni and Guy, but the problem I had was that the stylist was Swiss trained, which seemed to be very different compared to British trained. In any event, it's McConnell Hairdressing. Dean used to cut my hair, Sandy used to color it.

Ohh and my SIL dyes at home, she uses a box kit from Schwarzkopf.

When I've done reds, both on my natural black and dyed black hair (in between colors), they've all faded out after a month or two! As much as I love the color, I won't be doing it again. Not worth the $ or time!

Yeah i think they're going to have to strip your color. Black is the absolute hardest to cover.

My hair is pretty dark, I had to bleach it first but I was able to get super red here is before and after. I just recommend getting a good hair masque for post bleaching, my hair doesn't feel like it has been bleached at all!

I dyed my hair black for several years and when I was ready for a change, asked my stylist what my options were as far as dying over black. They'll have to strip the black out of your hair (which will turn it an orangish color) in order to put color on. My hair was already fried from flat ironing so I opted to just grow the black out :-\ It's been 2 years and the black is finally gone (my hair grows very slowly). Interestingly enough, the first pic you posted is my inspiration pic I'm giving to my stylist in November when I get my hair dyed!! Good luck, I'm with you on getting bored with "normal" hair

I did exactly this a few years back. It took 5 hours to process and it had to be completely bleached which really took a toll on the health on my hair. It was so dry after! It also cost a pretty penny. $350 vs my normal $180. Make sure you really want to do it. Also depending on your natural hair color you might need more maintenance because your roots might show sooner than with black. All in all I was glad I did it because I always wanted to try red, but at the same time, I quickly went back to a dark brown about 5 months after.

Ive done it before at home (black to red). I used a color stripping product and then dyed my hair red. It was pretty easy.
