My newly turned 5 year old seems to be having a fixation on death. His great grandmother (he did not know her well) recently died and he asks questions about death on a daily basis lately. He has been really sad about death, growing up, getting older, when he is going to die, etc. He cried about it at daycare this week. I asked his pediatrician for suggestions but he said he didn't know any books off the top of his head.

I'm glad he's asking and not just internalizing his fears but I think maybe an age appropriate book that is comforting would help. My general approach to parenting is age appropriate factual responses if that helps. We are not religious but I have discussed heaven with him as a means to try and soothe him. Any great books you can recommend?
