I voted both since I can see it go both ways, but I have a friend who everyone calls "Becks" or "Beck" (her name is Rebecca), so I lean a little more towards it being a girl name.

I automatically think boy because, as you know, it was one of my top choices for Elliot. Buttt I think it would be a really cute girl name too!

I've never heard Becks as a name but I definitely don't think of a girl.... I mean unless it was short for Rebecca, Becky, or something of the like.

I definitely hear boy unless the nn was for Rebecca.

I voted girl. Almost every Rebecca I know goes by Bec, Becks, Bex... Becca is not really a nn here.

I say boy. There was a girl on Grey's Anatomy with the same name but I think it was a nickname.

Not sure- I kind of think of David Beckham, but then also a nickname for Rebecca.

I think of it more as a boy's name. For a girl, I think of the name plus the letter "A" at the end like Becca/Becka.

Beckett -- definitely boy to me. Becks -- Like PPs, I think of as a nickname for Rebecca.

I think girl, because I think of Kate Beckett on Castle. I know it's her last name, but that's what I think of! Plus "Becks" to me sounds girly, probably because it can be a nickname for Rebecca, like others have mentioned.

Becks (to me) sounds like a nickname that you wouldn't ever introduce yourself as. Like if my name was Mary, but people called me Mare as a nickname, I wouldn't put Mare on my school papers, or if I met someone new I wouldn't say, "Hi my name is Mare." I might say "Hi my name is Mary, but people call me Mare."
I'm hesitant to use gender neutral names because I work in a male-dominated field so people would naturally assume I'm a man if I had a gender neutral name.
With all that said, I do like gender neutral nicknames. Becks is a perfect example. Beckett and Rebecca are not gender neutral at all (to me) so it gives the child (or adult) the choice. Becks as a full name sounds like a British boys name to me.
Sorry I wrote a novel!

LOVE "Beckett" - and just like @temperancebreannan, it sounds like they could be "Beckett, but people call me Becks." Or, if you and DH call him Becks, it could just stick. I have lots of friends for whom that's happened - with their kiddos named Elliot (Eli) and Julia (Jules).

Becks makes me initially think of Rebecca, but Beckett is more masculine to me and I like the nickname Becks for that after seeing the two together! Cute!

Thomas Becket comes to mind but I like the name Beckett for a boy
