I told my husband I wanted to get E a doll and he flat out said no. That his son wasn't going to have a doll. He felt the same way about getting him a play kitchen (though a play grilling set would be acceptable). I told him that was silly, that as a man, he cooks and takes care of his child, so why couldn't our son play at those things? He didn't really have a good answer, but insisted he wasn't ok with it. He even called several male friends to ask whether they would allow their sons to have those things, they all said that no, they wouldn't.

I'm really surprised DH took such a hard stance on this, since he's usually a pretty progressive thinking parent. Anyone else have a SO who doesn't want your son to have stereotypically girl toys?
