Did anyone grow up sharing a room with a sibling of the opposite gender?
I only shared a room with my brother once-- we lived in an apartment while our house was being finished.

I only had sisters, so no.
We plan on having DD and DS share for a room for a while, though. I feel like sex/gender doesn't matter much when they're little, and I really want them to have the experience of sharing of a room with a sibling!

My cousins did up for a long time. I think in the pre-teen years its ok, but once one sibling starts going through puberty they NEED privacy from a sibling of the oppposite gender

My brother and I shared when I was little. Until I was six or so? (My brother would have been nine.) We had a three bedroom and my brother and I shared while my sister was a baby, and then once she was a decent enough sleeper, she and I shared and my brother got his own room.

My brother was the oldest, and 6 years older than me, and he always had his own room. I shared for a while with my older sister, then with my younger sister for a few years, but we couldn't get along so my parents built an addition

I have a friend who continues to share a room with her brother to this day! She's 27, he's 18...I can't even imagine!

@highwire: I know...it's crazy. She's luckily able to go to her boyfriend's apartment a lot of the time, but still. I can't even imagine.

I shared a room with one of my brothers until I was about 5 (and he was 9). Then he moved into the "Boy Cave" room with our older twin brothers and I got my own bedroom.

Yup! I shared a room with my younger brother (4 years younger) until I turned 9. Then he shared a room w/our youngest brother and I got my own room.
Even if we have extra bedrooms, I'm totally gonna have my LOs share a room -- I remember how much fun my brother and I had telling stories and talking before going to bed at night

Yes, my little brother and I shared a room until sometime in middle school. We are 2 years apart. It was a huge room though, and my dad built giant bookcases that went through the middle of the room to divide it.
We didn't mind sharing a room except when one of had friends over it could get annoying since the boys could "spy" on us.
