DS peed standing up for the first time (that I know of) this morning at daycare. He was on a stool and had his underpants/pants around his ankles so they were safe from getting wet. However, I've read several posts where moms have their LO stand up on the seat in public restrooms. How do you keep their pants dry?

My nephew does this. He takes his pants all the way off lol.

I do this with my son, he is able to do it without getting his pants wet...you kind of have to prepare before urination begins otherwise you get a spray.

never thought to do this! I was wondering how moms take their son's to public restrooms when they will only stand to pee. My son will not pee sitting.

I've never done this. My son is tall enough to just stand on the floor and not make a huge mess.

They stand up on the seat? Isn't that kind of dangerous? What if a foot slips into the toilet?

@Shizaz: I've never done this myself but have seen several posts on here and other sites suggesting it. I have had DS kneel on the toilet seat with me supporting his weight so he wouldn't topple over/fall in. It worked but he is indecisive on whether he wants to stand or sit to go pee so I've been trying multiple things.

My son had no issue sitting to pee when he was too short to stand. If my husband was within he just held him up.

My 2 yo has been peeing standing up for at least 6 months or longer. I just pick him up with my hands under his armpits and since I'm a germaphobe and I don't want his knees/thighs touching the front of the toilet bowl I even grip his ankles between my legs.

my son is tall enough to stand on the ground, but if he wasn't i'd make him sit, I think?

@Shizaz: I always hold my son, it's not like I say, hey kid, climb up there on your own.
I find that the toilet height is the issue, my son is not tall enough to get his penis out over the rim of most toilets just yet, which results in pee spraying every where. And I will absolutely not touch a public toilet under any circumstances, lol. People are GROSS.

Ds pees standing up now most times (he was trained sitting down) and I just hold him up for public bathrooms!

In public bathrooms, I lift up the seat and hold LO up so he is standing on the rim of the toilet. I tilt him a bit forward so to make sure the stream goes into the toilet. Sometimes it does overshoot and go all the way to the other end of the toilet but I will quickly adjust his position before it goes out of control... Just have to wipe up his pee afterwards... Then there are times a few drops of his pee drips on his pants which is at his ankle, but it is not bad at all and I can't worry about things like that at this point... I am fine as long as it wasn't a full patch of pee / a full on accident.
Can't wait for him to grow taller, or I can't wait for the day when I no longer have to take him to the bathroom

I just hold him up so he can pee. Under the armpits a few inches off the ground.
