I am about to purchase a convertible car seat. I like the britax boulevard but its a bit expensive. I;m thinking of getting the Marathon 70 but I see on their website that the boulevard has the True side impact protection with the head rest type cushions. FOr those who have either one are you happy with your purchase, should I just pay extra for the boulevard?

We have two Boulevards because we wanted the extra side protection. We are happy with our purchase but I've never tried another car seat.

Love our boulevard. I had the chaperone and it had the same head rest thingies that the boulevard has. My friend had the smaller Britax infant seat and when I saw them side by side I really liked the way the head rest fit her, wrapped her up and protected her, so that was the kicker for me when we bought our boulevard.

We have the Marathon. I bought it because of a recommendation from one of my friends who has 2 kids- she said it's the only seat they've used where the straps don't get tangled. I didn't really look at the differences between the Marathon and Boulevard but I know that my son would have hated the side cushions. He has a huge melon head which is one of the reasons we had to switch him to the convertible seat at 6 months :).

We have 2 marathons and we are very happy with both! We didn't really look at the boulevard though because both of the seats we bought were on sale!

Consider looking into the Recaro Proride. We were split between the Recaro and the Britax Boulevard and ended up preferring the Recaro, and not just because of the lower price. It fit better in my car and was easier to adjust.

I have one of each, Boulevard and Marathon 70. They are both terrific car seats. The Boulevard is a little bulky and heavy. We don't travel with it. The side impact is nice, but again adds to the bulk. We use the Marathon in my husband's sedan and the Boulevard in our van.

We have the Advocate (which is the Boulevard with extra air things on the sides) and the Marathon as well. We like them both for different reasons. Sometimes the side impact head things make seeing out the windows difficult, which she HATED when she was rear facing. Now that she is forward its not so bad.

We have the Marathon and love it! We borrowed a friend's Boulevard once and my son hated the wings. He kept straining his neck forward to look out the side windows.
I like having my son be able to look out the windows and point and say words, etc.

Diapers.com has the Marathon on sale for 30% off right now- just ordered it! I'm not sure if the boulevard is on sale as well.

We just bought the marathon and I am so excited! One big thing that is different between the boulevard was the straps on the marathon are click adjustable. Can't wait to make the switch in a couple months from infant!

I was set on getting the Boulevard when there was a sale but then changed my mind and bought the Diono Radian RXT. The RXT has a narrower profile but still plenty of seat room for DD plus it has the head wings. We don't have a huge car and the Britax would have blocked the seat buckle of one of the rear side seats so that's really what made my decision. I've read great things about the Diono and after using it for over 1.5 months I really love everything about it! Cup holder, and strap to keep the latch straps attached to the seat, each attachment had a storage compartment, and I really love that it turns into a booster so I don't need to buy another seat again (well, until the next kid...).

@Thehistoryofus: Yea that's what I thought too when we narrowed it down to those two. I felt these two had the best all around safety and features. One thing is Britax had rear and forward facing recline while the Diono only has a forward facing recline. They do have an accessory you can buy that allows the rear facing seat to be more upright if your child is over 1 year old and over 20 lbs. I plan to get this for DD if she starts wanting to be more upright.
I like having my son be able to look out the windows and point and say words, etc.
