I love this idea!! My nephew and niece now share a room at age 7 and 4, and they both sleep so much better because of it. They have a twin and a full in one small room (just a small strip between the two beds) and my niece's old room (VERY small) was converted into a playroom and they love it.

How about one of those twin over full beds with a trundle? The whole family could sleep in it if you wanted

Yay bunk beds! My older brother and I had bunk beds for a while and we loved sharing a room together!!

I want to do bunk beds especially since it'll be such a space saver (their room is pretty small), but J is too little right now!

I love the simplicity of the bunk bed you posted - that way both kids could get the top bunk, and have their own private space on the bottom for their desks, books, and toys. I'll have to revisit this when they get older!

@snowjewelz: I just did - so many great ideas! I like the idea of making the bottom a floor bed... maybe when we switch J from his crib to an actual bed we can do this.

@Adira: My husband said he had a bed like that growing up and loved it! The bottom bed was a full bed, and the top was a twin, and you can unstack them so they turn into regular beds.

@Mrs. High Heels: Very nice! Ours were both twins, but I'm guessing because my parents wanted to be "fair" in every way they could, haha. We were only 16 months apart!

@Mrs. Bee: that's a good point (re: the seeing each other) - that crossed my mind too. But even right now, J and N can't really see each other from their beds that well because J is in a crib (with a bumper around him so it hides him when he's flat on his back), and N is in a twin bed with a mesh bed rail, so I don't know if that will be as big a problem as we imagine.

@Mrs. High Heels: I know! I want to get one even if the kids don't need to bunk!

@Mrs. Bee: We have the Kura! Though right now it's just DD using it in the regular bed mode but our plan is to have the kiddos room share once #2 is around 1. We would flip it with DD on top and #2 will be on the floor bed - great since it's low profile. That's the plan for now but I won't know how well it works until next year.

My brother and I shared a bunk up until I was in junior high. It was great and we would chat.

I shared a bunk bed with my sister growing up! Mine had a ladder.
