Do you usually buy two separate gifts or a larger combined gift?
This gift is for soon to be 3 year twins that I don't know very well. They just started in LO 2's preschool class last month.

I think either option is totally fine. It would just depend on what I wanted to buy them.

I usually buy separate gifts unless I've cleared it with the mom before that there is something bigger they would like together.

Maybe two gifts that coordinate and can be used together? Like a dress up dress for each of them, or a Lego set for each, etc.

My twins are too young to care about them each having a gift to open (at 20 months), but by 3 I imagine they might like to each have their own gift. One thing I recommend against is getting two of the exact same present. My twins received a lot of exact doubles for Christmas, which sounds good in theory, but we don't really need a ton of duplicates. It's not like they will ever sit down and each play with "their" item. They only want the one their sibling is playing with, even if it's the same!

Like @twodoghouse: said, at 3 having a separate gift for each would be important since they're old enough to be aware of receiving shared gifts, etc. They don't need to be identical, though.

As a twin mom I'd say separate gifts unless it's a big present. While things don't need to be identical, it helps when things are of a similar genre (two toy planes, two different cars, etc.) I've discovered this need in all of our present buying experiences...

We've just had this situation were LO was invited to the birthday party of his twin friends' 3rd birthday party. We got the same gift times 2.
