Anyone else planning on buying used items for LO's Christmas gifts?
There's so much I want to get her I just can't possibly buy all new, even on sale.
I'm looking for a used learning tower, mega blocks and shopping cart right now.

yep! I do this for Birthdays too! We have a great consignment shop! It suppose to be cleaned by them but I always take things home and use Clorox wipes just to be sure. My kids have no clue that its new or used =)

I have no issue with this at all, her kitchen is used And if I can find a good deal on a playhouse I would buy this used for Christmas.

I have already bought a couple things! Love finding great deals used, I just got an PBK anywhere chair for $10 And I like some of the older versions of some toys rather than the newer so I love trying to hunt down the used "vintage" toy deals.

@pinkb: wow, Good score on the anywhere chair! Are you just going to buy a new slipcover for it?

@locavore_mama: Yep that is the plan. I fell in love with the gray with a ruffle cover and the one I got is red, so I definitely want a new cover.

I wouldn't mind a used slide or indoor playhouse right now but our local Craigslist sucks.
@pinkb: I love older Fisher Price Little People and I buy them on Ebay!

Yes! There are a few things we will buy new (maybe an outfit, shoes, and a bike helmet). But toys and things like that probably will be used.

@pinkb: do you know how much a cover is and can you personalize?

@Smurfette: OMG! My SIL has one of these and let us borrow it when DD was younger. IT IS AMAZING! We loved it. They retail for like $200!! What a STEAL!

@Smurfette: So cool! Daycare has one and the kids love it.

@chopsuey: I know! My Aunt gets to go during the presale for the sellers and I had her look for me. I told her to pick between it and the L&L House and she said this was cheaper and in better condition. It doesn't look used at all! R is going to love it!

@Smurfette: awesome deal!
@locavore_mama: I think they are $69 regular pice, I wasn't planning on putting her name on it so not sure about that.

I would be totally fine with it, especially if it is something large and assembled!
I was thinking of doing the used route when my son's old enough for a bike!

@locavore_mama: you know I did. I bought Mega Bloks and a couple of Little People sets for her for Christmas used. My husband used his washing magic on them so they all look brand new again.

I am totally not opposed to it. But I got an Aqua Doodle on clearance for cheap cheap, and then the rockin' giraffe. We want to buy her a tent or teepee and that'll be it I think. So this year probably not used.

Our kids megablocks came from goodwill! An enormous bag for $1.99! I was floored when I saw how much they are new.
But yes, I would. Our kids bday gifts were a combo of new and pre-loved. Our family is also into garage sales and thrift stores, so they give some second hand items for holidays as well. Typically clothes, shoes, toys. It's great!
