I'm thinking of getting a wrap or maybe a WCRS. Which wrap is your favorite? I live in DC, so I don't want anything too thick for summer wearing.

I never actually pulled the trigger, but the one I had my eye on was this one from Girasol. The color is called Vamp.

Edit: Um, I'm an idiot! I didn't even look at who had posted this. Sorry, Weagle!

I own many woven wraps, but my favorite brand is Wrapsody Baby (which is awesome because they are also the cheapest out of all that I own). The bali breeze is great for warmer weather, but it's not super soft. However, I love the way that it wraps (you can get a super-tight, wiggle-proof carry with minimum effort), it folds up super small, so it is one of the easiest to carry with you in a diaper bag or purse, and it has never seemed to bother Lorelei or her skin (even when she was a newborn). I really don't prefer Girasol. I had two, and sold both of them. My other favorite brands would be Oscha (good luck getting one of them, though. I like mine, but didn't feel it lived up to the hype), Ellevill (I love the bamboo blends and they are very pretty/dressy), and Storchenwiege (very sturdy, but I've a feeling it would be too hot for you). Comfy Joey makes awesome WCRS-- mine is an Ellevill bamboo paisley conversion and I *heart* it lots.

@Weagle: I think an excellent toddlerworty (for the future) wrap is Diva Milano linen blend. They are also the widest wraps out there and wrap like a dream!! They are thin, breathable yet oh so supportive. http://www.diva-milano.com/linen/
I ended up selling mine because wrapping just wasn't for us, but we loved this wrap!! I really miss it to be honest.
We also have a WCRS (from a Lenny Lamb) and a WCMT (from a Girasol) that we are in love with. I purchased them from Earthy Bliss, but I don't think she is doing full custom WCMT anymore (she will add embroidery to an in stock Lenny Lamb WCMT which are being manufactured for her by Lenny Lamb using her actual design and are a lot cheaper than the full custom): http://www.earthybliss.com/. She is great to work with!
There are also many sites where you can buy a wrap scrap from and then the send it off to Sleeping Baby Productions (http://www.sleepingbaby.net/) to slingify it. SBP WCRS are like the gold standard. Paxbaby is part of this type of program and they also have some premade SBP RS from time to time: http://shop.paxbaby.com/wrap-conversion-ring-sling-piece. I know a few other shops do this too, but I can't think of them off the top of my head.
The other option would be to buy a wrap off the swap on FB or other site and then send it in yourself. Sometimes you can get two WCRS out of a wrap or a WCRS and a shorty depending on wrap length.
ETA: Overall I think a linen blend is great for both an airy wrap and offering more support. We have an all cotton Ellevill that is also great. Ellevill are not as wide as some of the other wraps and have narrow tapers which makes for a really small knot when tying off and I love that!

I will totally give you a novel on my favorite brands once W first down for a nap so I can go on my computer instead of my phone. Lol

OK, so it kinda depends on your budget and what your priorities are.
I've personally tried C&C, Kokadi, Girasol, Didymos, Natibaby, and Oscha.
C&Cs are super inexpensive. They're just solid colors, and made in France. Most are 100% cotton, their Biotiful wrap is a linen blend and that ONLY comes in the "natural" color. I actually plan on buying a Biotiful and dying it and making it into 2 WCRSs (one for me and one for a friend). Despite being inexpensive and 100% cotton they're actually really supportive and come really soft straight out of the box.
KoKaDi is my favorite brand. Anything that isn't in their standard line is pretty hard to find though because they only make a limited amount of them. I've only ever tried their 100% cotton wraps (their blends are supposed to be DREAMY but they're super hard to find) and they're just as supportive as any linen blend I've tried. If you're buying them brand new they are pretty "average" priced, but people price jack the hard to find ones A LOT.
Girasol is most known for their rainbow wraps. My first wrap was a girasol. They have two different weaving techniques, twill weave and diamond weave. Twill weave DOES NOT work for us, but I LOVE our diamond weave wrap. Again, these are pretty average priced, they're all 100% cotton. Some people say Diamond Weave is more supportive, I just find it easier to wrap with for whatever reason.
Didymos wraps aren't my favorite, but they aren't my least favorite, lol. I have a well-loved, super broken in linen blend from them that is AWESOME and super breathable, but straight out of the box they're pretty crunchy. The more they're used, the softer they get.
In my experience, Natibaby wraps are gorgeous, but they're super thick. Even their linen blends are like blankets, so you'd be sweating like crazy in the summer. I have a merino wool blend from them that is SOOOOO soft, but will be useless all summer, lol. I wouldn't recommend a Nati to a beginner just because they're so thick.
Oscha is the only brand I've tried that I honestly don't like, lol, which is funny because they're super highly sought after right now. I tried a 100% cotton and a linen blend and really hated both so I sold them pretty quickly.
I have a 100% linen ring sling that I dyed and made myself that I loved. I've had it since last summer and it has become so soft and well broken in it molds to my shoulder. If you can sew, it really isn't hard to make your own ring sling, it's just a matter of making sure you're using the right material (it has to be a woven material that is a lighter bottomweight - NO quilter's cotton).
People say cotton wraps don't work for toddlers, but there are a lot of people that disagree (myself included) it's just making sure you have the right cotton wrap. Bamboo is great for newborns because it's super soft, but it really won't be supportive enough for older babes. Linen is very supportive, but generally comes pretty stiff and needs to be broken in. Depending on the wrap it can be really good for summer (like I said, Nati wraps are really thick though, so even their linen is hot). Hemp is said to be the best for heavy babies, but I've found it to be quite thick and I don't like big knots so I tend to avoid it. It's also a beast to break in. Wool is great for cold climates and heavy babies but requires special care (no washing machine, no dryer, special detergent) or else it'll felt and become unsafe. Silk is supposed to be really supportive and glides great but I've never tried silk, the care for it scares me too much.

Some of my favorite pictures (can't help it, lol)
The first picture is actually in a Wrap Conversion Half Buckle it was made by Shiny Star Designs out of KoKaDi Desert Elephants (it's on of our two custom conversions - it has Horton ears on the hood).
The second is KoKaDi Ahoi in a hip carry that you use one sling ring with (it is NOT a ring sling, it is a size 4 wrap). Ahoi is 100% cotton but SOOOO supportive. It's also super hard to find, but they recently did a pre-order for it so a bunch will probably be popping up on the swap pages within the next few months.
The third is actually my Nati Wool Gears. Soooo soft, I just wish it wasn't so hot.
And the last is the linen ring sling that I made.

@allison: haha... No worries!
@Mrs. Twine: I was looking at a Wrapsody actually. I don't know that I want to go deep into my pockets if I'm just trying it out, you know?
@anbanan15: If I end up getting a WCRS, I'll definitely have Jan do it. I'm kind of obsessed with the linen sling I have from her now. I'm just looking for another
@Navy_Mommy: Thank you so much! I love in-depth reviews :). And I love the HB with the Horton ears. Really cute!

@Mrs. Twine: @anbanan15: @Navy_Mommy: I'm new to the wraps (obvs). If I'm a size 2, XS SBP RS user, what length wrap would I need? Could I get a longer one and have a sling made with enough left to use as a wrap?
nectarine / 2458 posts
@Weagle: if you got a long wrap you could get a ring sling and a shortie, but I wouldn't recommend learning how to wrap with a shortie. I'm a size 2/4 and my "base size" is a 5 but I actually prefer the carries I do with a 4. On my blog last Wednesday I posted a tutorial video for my favorite carry
ETA there's a link to my blog on my profile.

@Weagle; you got a good answer already (you'd be left with a shortie, which would be limited in the carries you can do, and would be harder to learn on). My preferred size is a size 5 (or the longest Wrapsody) because I like to be able to do any carry I feel like. I do have some shorter wraps for ease of transport (i.e. they fold up smaller). I'm about a size 8.
