When did your baby outgrow it? I read that you can use it up to 35 lbs, but that seems like a lot, and I recently read somewhere that after their baby was 16 or 17 lbs it was pretty uncomfortable. My LO is 14 pounds now and I haven't had problems thus far, but I am hoping to be able to wear her on vacation in May and I am trying to figure out if that is realistic. We will be doing a lot of walking.

I tried the k'tan but didn't get to use it more than 2-3 times -- LO HATED it. She doesn't mind the Moby, though, go figure. So my vote is (unfortunately) about 8.5 lbs...

I didn't use the ktan past maybe 16 lbs. My kids are 25 lbs now and I really can't picture it working at all at this weight.

18 or so? Then we went to the ergo and LOVED it.

My LO is a peanut. She's 18 (nearly 19) pounds and almost 18 months old. We tried it the other day just for fun and she still fits but the Ergo is just a lot more comfortable. In general though, she doesn't really like being in the carrier anymore. I loved the K'tan for < 8 months though. She loved snuggling in it and the Ergo was just not a great fit when she was tiny.

I stopped when she was about 15lbs/6 months. She just didn't want to be so restricted anymore. We tried the outward-facing once, and she loved it. But she kept kicking me like jumping, and my back and pelvis couldn't take it. I still keep it in the car to use if I need it for a back-up. But I will say, 6 months sounds short, but the K'tan was a lifesaver for me!

My LO is 17 lbs and we used it just the other day and it was fine. But I got an Ergo for Christmas, and tend to use that one more now for out and about so it's hard to say. I used the K'Tan around the house a lot when she was really little though.

@Arden: We also switched to the ergo around 4 months... as soon as we were able without an insert. Vastly preferable!

@PurplePeony: Ah...yeah, I didn't make an option for less than 14 lbs! Stinks that your LO didn't take to the K'tan. I swear us moms could spend a fortune attempting to figure out which gear actually works for our LOs!
@Arden: @Sapphiresun: @mjane: @sunny: I am glad the Ergo seems to be the next carrier most of you use because I have one of those, too! My SO has had luck carrying her in the Ergo, but I haven't really tried since she was really little, and then it wasn't really comfortable for her or me.
@shopaholic: The K'tan has been a lifesaver for us, too.
I guess I am happy my LO is on the tiny side. At 8.5 months she is 14 lbs, so the K'tan is still working! I won't bank on being able to use it in May on our vacation though. She will be almost a year old then.

I haven't used in since 6 months but that is cause now at a store we just put her in the cart or stroller cause she likes to see everyone. We hardly ever use the Ergo she isn't big on being wore these days.
Like Shopaholic I wouldn't have survived without it earlier.

She's 6 months, and about 15-16 lbs, and we still use it comfortably. I think the different carries can help with weight distribution.

My lo wasn't into it once he hit about 12 lbs.

I used my K'tan a ton at the beginning, but switched it out for my Moby at about 8 weeks because it felt small. Fast forward and I tried putting DD in it a few days ago (she is 1 yo and 20 lbs) - she fit no problem and seemed really comfortable!

@bisous: my husband was the one who wore the k'tan and once they'd got the hang of it he was really loathe to give it up for the ergo... but I kept hassling him and as soon as he'd done it once he never looked back! (I was using a sling before she fit in the ergo so I was thrilled to get the weight on both shoulders.) I'd give the ergo another try soon!

we switched to the ergo as soon as possible (LO was not a fan of the k'tan, to my disappointment) and liked it a lot. LO was probably about 15 lbs or even a bit less.

@bisous: yeah, I think it didn't fit right though. I got the proper size for my height/weight but it was so tight around her, even as a newborn, that I wasn't surprised she was uncomfortable. I felt like I was smashing her in when I tried to use it. Maybe it was mislabeled or something, who knows.

We're 5 months & about 16lb. It's tight, but we don't use it very often. I was going through and trying the different ways to use it and they were ok. He's a little big for some, but he still doesn't mind being in there, as long as he's moving around in it.
