We're starting to think about what we're going to do this summer, especially now that the weather is a bit warmer.
The kids LOOOVED going camping last summer, so we're definitely going to go again. Some good friends of ours expressed interest in camping together, so maybe we'll make it a group trip. Can't decide if this is a great idea or the worst idea ever.
Did you grow up going camping in the summer? Any plans to go camping with the kids this year?

I would really like to since I love camping. But I can't quite figure out the logistics with two dogs and an under 1year old baby for sleep. Do ppl normally put a pnp in the tent?

Yes and yes. My profile icon is us with our 78 Westfalia bus. My parents bought it before I was born, and we lived in it as a family in Europe for 4 months. All of my possessions fit in a cubby. They gifted it to M and I several years back. We will camp with our daughter this summer when she is a few months old. Many of my favorite memories as a kid were long road trips and camping in the van.

Camping is a great way to vacation cheaply! We're going to try it out this summer with our daughter who will be 3. Thankfully she is in a bed now so we can do it comfortably. We weren't comfortable doing it with her in a crib.
We used to camp with some friends before we had kids and this year we're going to get them to go with us again (they are childfree). yay!

My brothers family "camps" but its in a camper, with beds, and lights, and tables, and a/c - THAT I can do 
(but its not really camping unless your in a tent and have to sleep in a sleeping bag
My 6 yr old would LOVE to camp - I told DH he should take him this summer

Yes! We already went on a one night camping trip in February. We plan on going on a lot of weekend trips plus one big week long trip.
We've been taking our son camping since he was 3 months old. When he was nursing he slept right next to me. That first trip at 3 months old was the hardest in terms of sleep because he was still nursing every few hours. After that he slept in the pack n play and now he sleeps on a little cot.

We go tenting several times in the summer. We did a pnp in the past but DS will be 3 this year so he will just sleep on a mat. by us. It's a lot of fun when the weather cooperates. Camping in the rain makes me cranky.

I use to camp in college and I remember once it was water proofed you couldn't touch the tent or else it would leak - there is no way I could keep little hands from touching every inch of that tent!

@Mamaof2: Tent technology has come a long way! The tents I used as a kid were pretty miserable, but the latest ones are way better!!

We haven't actually taken the kids camping but definitely plan on it! We will probably borrow a popup. We do do a lot of hiking with the kids.
Definitely go as a group! I did that a lot as a kid and kid much more fun.

I grew up camping each summer and loved it. My husband however never really did and so far I've been unsuccessful convincing him to take a trip. Eventually, maybe...

My family LOVES camping, I'm much more of a "glamping" kind of girl. I'll go, but it's not really a vacation for me when I have to cook/clean/rough it.

Camping as a group is so much fun! We love tent camping but I don't know if we'll go this summer. We took older DS when he was about 18 mos, and went a few more times that summer. The next summer we had the younger DS and at 8-10 mos, I wasn't sure how he would do sleeping in the same room (big tent) with the rest of us. My fears were confirmed when we all slept in a hotel room together at 13 mos... not good. We might try again this summer as he will be 19 mos+.

I love camping!!! I highly doubt we'll be doing it with a 2 year old and a newborn though. Maybe in a couple of years

This is actually a great idea for this summer! I think our kids would have a blast. I can't say it's my favorite but if it's just for a night or two, yeah I can deal.

I went on multiple camping trips every summer growing up. Loved it! I have 2 under 2 and am not ready to take them camping yet but I imagine summer 2016 we'll take a trip or two. Right now it's easier to take them to our beach house when they are so young.

We haven't yet, but can't wait to. We go tent camping (pre baby it was back packing or canoe trips) every summer. It's so important to get out of the city. The little guy will be 4 or5 months when we go this summer.

We would love to but we have an 18 month old are due with our second in 5 weeks. we live in Texas so we would basically need to go while the baby is a few weeks old so we don't melt in the heat.
