Anyone have experience with follicles and success based on how many and sizes? I’m doing IUI, but would still love any input! I’ll post the details if anyone responds.

@CatchAFallingStar:
I don't know what sizes your follicles are (or how many you are working with this cycle) but, depending on the practice, many REs will have you trigger with a 15 mm or greater follicle ... that stated, some REs will trigger on a 12 mm since within the 24-48 between trigger and OV, a follicle can grow between 1 and 3 mm. Oftentimes, with multiple follicles at a prime size (over 3 or 4), the RE will cancel the IUI (* I have had cancelled cycles due to overstimming). Also, sometimes, even with triggering, only a single follicle out of 2 or 3 will ovulate and produce a mature ova. In that case, one may end up with a functional (E2-producing) simple cyst (* This is what happened to me 5 mos back and I had it surgically removed).
From what I know, if you are nearing 40, the RE may hope for you to trigger with 2 or 3 follicles (although one good one is fantastic) as, oftentimes, they state ova quality may be less with age and there is no promise the follicle will hold an egg (or a mature, quality one) at all. I hope my response was even remotely helpful.
In any case, best of luck , and keep us updated!

@CatchAFallingStar: No problem!
Having a 17.4 mm follie on one ovary and a 19.2 mm on the other is wonderful. Post trigger the 17 will be between 18 and 20 mm while the 19 would be anywhere from 20 to 22 mm! Fingers crossed 🤞 that you ovulate both (which would increase your chance for a sticky perfect singleton OR even a set of fraternal twins!). Your endometrial lining looks to be measuring perfectly (between 8 and 15 mm) as well.
Hopefully, it is trilaminar and all set for your Tues IUI ... Good luck!

@Kaohinani: I can’t remember if I’m supposed to object more FSH (Menopur) today as well as the trigger!! Do you happen to know? The office is closed now. Yikes

@CatchAFallingStar: take your meds as scheduled. On the days I used my Ovidrel trigger, I DID NOT use my evening Follistim as one does not want to make the follicle quadruple (or worse) when it is already "ripe." My first medicated cycle, I called my RE (and spoke with his PA) about the same thing. She told me injecting both is only advised if it is a morning inject of FSH for a small (less than 15 mm) follie and followed by HSG injection at night ... otherwise, ONLY the HSG trigger.

@CatchAFallingStar: No, ma'am. I, currently, am an adjunct professor at a university and, highlight as a NASM certified P.T. with degrees in exercise science and Biomechanics (* I love exercise and it pays bills). I did work as a researcher under a university geneticist YEARS ago (in my 20's). Since falling prey to having unexplained 2ndary infertility (nearly 4 years ago), I have been a proponent for my own fertility and health [as well as that of others] and have devoted much time to the study of fertility, the reproductive system, genetics, endocrinology, ART, and how to productively track a cycle. I also [freely] call my OBGYN or RE with any questions for which I cannot find a concrete answer. In a nutshell, I am curious, determined, and know where to find answers/who to ask; therefore, I will always try my best to give "complete" responses to anyone in need.
