My daughter has super fine, stick straight hair. I am terrible at doing hair. I attempted to braid the front of her hair this morning to get it out of her face and after 7 attempts, I gave up and put it in a side pony.
Any tips for braiding fine hair, if it is even possible? My lo has short hair so I'm just trying to do a little braid in the front to get it out of her eyes.

@mediagirl: mine has super fine hair and I braid it all the time! I do pigtail braids, grab her bangs and do a to the side braid (if that makes sense).
Since her hair's so fine, I picked up those tiny, clear elastic ties from target. They work great!

I rarely do DD's hair but everyone that has success with it starts by wetting her hair.

I have fine hair and my mom was able to braid mine! I think she would spray my hair with a bit of water first to make it easier.

Do it when it's wet!! My hair is super fine and my girls have the same hair. It's SO much easier to do it when it's wet and I use the plastic elastics to hold it in.

Yes, DD has really fine straight hair but i'm able to braid her hair. I usually just do two half pigtails to get the side hair out of her eyes. The braids go right on one side.
I also find that it's easy to braid her hair if her hair hasn't been washed in a day. (We wash her hair every other day, or once every 2 days - don't judge! )

I agree, wet it first. I also agree that the tiny plastic elastic a help. I have fine, straight hair that just slides right out of anything I try to do with it. It's possible to braid fine hair, just takes a bit of patience and practice.

I've had super straight fine hair forever and braiding is possible. Get it wet and practice your french braids. Braids are pretty much the only thing my hair actually stays in!

I have fine hair as well and unless I've braided it while wet or put some product in it, it just doesn't stay.

I braid my daughter's super fine hair. It's really tough to make it look neat though, because there are hairs sticking out everywhere.
