Whenever we go to visit my in-laws (which isn't very often) my FIL pulls my husband aside to tell him the "rules of the house." He expects my husband to pass these on to me. He hardly ever speaks to me directly. This makes communicating with him very difficult. I mostly just avoid him when we're at their house or if they are at ours. It makes me passing on our "house rules" very difficult, as well (see the shoes in the house post).
