Our kitchen is an open kitchen, so there's nothing separating the kitchen from the dining room table. I really like it that way! I can make eggs for breakfast while watching the kids at the table...
Never would've guessed a minor detail about a house like this would become so important to me as a parent!

Not the dining room table (which we never use), but it's totally open to the kitchen table.

yup. Small apartment, so it's just one big room - LR, dining, bedrooms etc.

We have a separate "formal" dining room that you can't really see from the kitchen, but our kitchen has space for a dining table also, which will probably be the one we end up using more.

Same design as you, I like to be involved with the family while cooking. I've never really been a fan of formal dining rooms!
Incidentally, yesterday while we were cooking breakfast Cam learned: "out, out, out," since I yell it at the dog and cats all the time in the kitchen. It had me and my MIL dying laughing...guess I better watch what I say- thought I'd have another year before that!

We don't have an open floor plan so I can't see the dining table from every angle. But our DD's play kitchen is in our kitchen so she's usually hanging out in here while I'm cooking.

Yep. The kitchen and dining are in one big room. I do wish the living room was open to the kitchen too.

Yes - we have an open concept floor plan centered around the kitchen, so from the kitchen you can see into the dining room and living room.

Yep, we have an open floor plan. Although we don't have a formal dining area, it's more of a kitchen nook to fit a regular kitchen table. I do love the set up although I wish the nook was just a TAD bigger.

I can see it when I'm at the stove but not when I'm at the sink. It's in a separate room but has an open doorway to the kitchen.

No, it's on the other side of the oven, the wall doesn't go all the way up to the ceiling though. The kitchen is open to the family room, and the dining room is open to the living room, it's a little wonky!,

There's a doorway from our kitchen to the formal dining room, so you can see it, but it's not really open concept. But we have a breakfast nook area where we do our day-to-day eating that is connected to the kitchen, so we can definitely see that.

Yep, it's one long room (kitchen and living room). I don't even call it a "dining room table" it's a "kitchen table" and is nestled in the kitchen. I love it.

Our "formal" dining room/table are behind a separating wall with a doorway from the kitchen. But we have a main table we usually eat at in between the kitchen and the family room (all one big rectangle).

Yup, our kitchen is open to our kitchen table. Our family hangs out in this area a lot. A friend of our built their kids' playroom right next to them kitchen when they renovated their house. I thought that was so smart!

Yes and no. There is a doorway from the kitchen to the formal dining room. But it's at the end of the kitchen so it's not in the direction I'm facing while I'm prepping or cooking food. But on one side our kitchen is totally open to the living room. And there is an area in our kitchen/living room that currently houses the pack n' play but once M is bigger we'll put a small kitchen table there so I'll be able to see her.

Yup! We have a small gally kitchen that is the connection from the open living room/dining room to the bathroom/ bedrooms end. It opens at a diagonal into the dining so it's pretty open.

No. Right now when I'm cooking I pull los high chair into the kitchen, or we have her play kitchen and magnets on the fridge for her to play with.

Yep, but it's really open so our dining room table is pretty much in our kitchen. They're also open to the living room. I never thought I'd like it very much but it's very handy with a baby to be able to see everything!

Our whole first floor is just one long "room" - kitchen one end, table in the middle, living 'room' on the other end. So yes.

Yes, we have a very open floorplan, and the kitchen/dining room are one 'room'. I also love that there is a big cut-out over part of the counter top in the kitchen, so I can watch tv while I prepare dinner! looove it.

We have an open floor plan, but there's a wall separating the kitchen and the dining room, so the only way to see it is through the door way. But, if you're in the living room, you can see the dining room and kitchen easily.

YES! As of about two weeks ago, when the wall came down mid-kitchen-renovation, we can!! Even without countertops and appliances (due this week and next), I love it. Countertops and appliances will be a big improvement, of course
