This past Friday I was throwing a bachelorette party sleepover at our house for my best friend who got married on Saturday. My husband and I were both off work so we could get everything ready. That morning my husband drove our dogs to his parents house and his parents drove them down to their farm land to stay for the weekend.

Around 4:00 my husband got a phone call and suddenly I could hear him screaming. Just absolutely screaming bloody murder. He just kept yelling "what?" and "no!" I knew something was wrong, but I didn't know what. He ran upstairs and told me that our sweet little girl Charlie ran out in front of car at the farm and she didn't make it.

We went through all the happy motions of our friend's wedding yesterday, but we are absolutely devastated. Charlie has been our whole world for the last five years. Even though I always knew we would outlive our dogs, I never expected to lose her so soon. And not like this.

I'm just glad to know that she was loved every single day of her life. She was a really happy, smart, vibrant dog who loved frisbees and balls and taking up all the space in our bed every night. Our other dog, Helo, seems confused. He keeps going from room to room and he won't eat much. I guess we all have adjusting to do.

If you guys could spare any thoughts in the coming days and weeks, we could definitely use it. I know there are so many animal lovers in this community. I hope you all give your dogs and cats kisses tonight.

Here are some pictures of our little girl, Charlie Sue.
