Start with YouTube!! There are tons of how-to sewing videos for begginers.

I took sewing in middle school and actually loved it - I made pillows, blankets, little toys.... I remember getting a sewing kit for Christmas that year but I never really kept it up. Luckily my MIL is incredibly talented in this area - I've already commissioned her for baby's nursery!

@char54: My dad wouldn't let me take that class in junior high. He said I would learn those skills at home. From who? Had he met my mother? Lol

No. My mom sews so she could teach me.... if I ever had the time. I hand sew little things though.

@Mrs. Tricycle: I love that society lives life for public consumption. My goal is simple...holiday napkins and then work my way up to a crib skirt.

I would love to learn how to sew. I have a feeling Ms. P is going to be very tall, so custom clothes may come in handy!

I got a pretty rad sewing machine for Christmas but its still in the box. Someday I'll take it out and learn.

Not yet, but my grandma is letting me have her sewing machine so I can learn.

Yes I have a sewing machine and enjoy sewing when I get the time. Its pretty straight forward and easy to teach yourself the basics

I love sewing! I am not an expert by any means but I have made lots of throw pillows and curtains and quilts and things. I like it because I am a very anytical person but not so creative. So for me sewing is the perfect craft!

I love to sew, but my lines aren't always straight (they might go slightly left or right sometimes) and I could work on learning more about tension and sergers.

In college I was really good and even worked in the drama department making costumes. I really should get back into it, I really used to love making things but don't make the time for it any more.

My mom is teaching me. We just finished sewing a reading tent for my daughter room. It so fun!

Yes! I'm not terrible at it, but I am still in the learning process. I really enjoy it though!
