I am always drawn to vintage style dresses & clothes (pencil skirt anyone) but they don't really suite my body style. 
I was perusing Modcloth & came across this cute 50's style dress... so cute, but I know it would NOT look flattering on me. womp womp.

I do! I like more 70s vintage than 50s/60s vintage stuff though. I think you just need to try them on though to see how they fit. And a bit of alterations can do wonders! I think I remember you posting you know how to sew?

Yep. I love 1940s and 1950s style dresses. I'm pretty curvy so I think I pull it off. I love me a good pencil skirt.
Also... that dress is a simple A-line with a natural waist. Pretty universally flattering. Go for it.

I think it depends on what era vintage. Those ModCloth type dresses make me look like a little girl. I'm short and look youngish for my age, so I need help looking more sophisticated!
I do love pieces from the 40s and 70s, especially for dressing up. I dig pencil skirts but not very practical for chasing toddlers around a playground! Maybe I'll get into fashion again once everyone's in school.

I love mod cloth! I only wear vintage clothing for special occasions though (I think it's more dressy than current styles!)
