What infant car seat did you choose & why?
For LO we had the Britax Marathon & we really loved it but we are considering getting rid of it & the 3 (yes 3! lol) bases that we have & replacing it for baby number 2. My main reasons are it is HEAVY & I do not like that it doesn't fit very well into most shopping carts. I love the anti rebound bar but don't know if that alone is worth sticking with it. Advice?

We had a travel system- chicco key fit 30. I loved it.

I think our plan is to get the Chicco Key Fit car seat and the Britax B Ready stroller. You can use a converter to attach them. I like the Britax car seats, but we already bought a Bob and the Chicco car seat is compatable with the Bob but the Britax isn't.

@MamaMoose: I need to look into the chicco! Also, this may be incorrect but I am almost positive that on WB on the baby boards when I was pregnant for our first someone said that the Britax IS compatible with the BOB but it just isn't listed as being compatible...so you may want to check that out

@sulli301: I never put it in a shopping cart. It's pretty light weight and easy to carry around..... probably easier if you don't have a huge baby like I do. We usually just put it straight into the stroller.

@sulli301: @MamaMoose: It looks like Britax and Bob companies are joined somehow, so I would be surprised if you weren't able to use the two in combination with one another.

@mediagirl: Yeah, thanks! I wish I could remember who told me...I think I know but am not positive! But I am almost sure I was told that they are in fact compatible!

@sulli301: Nope. I'll stop in for a few things with her, but not a full shopping trip. I would just send DH to shop for me. Life is so much easier that way.

@artbee: haha gotcha!! I almost always take DH shopping with us but I am a bit of a kitchen controller & wouldn't feel like he could go alone & get it all....I need to have more faith in him!! He would do a fine job I am sure.

@sulli301: Sometimes DH does get it wrong, but I figure that's better than having to go myself with my LO. Plus I hate grocery shopping.

I also have the chicco key fit 30, hand-me-down from my sister. I'm short (5ft) so I don't put it on carts when shopping, I usually take LO out of car seat and wear in ergo when shopping. It also fits in the peg perego pliko 3 and bumbleride strollers.

@artbee: I didn't like grocery shopping with LO even when DH went with me until I started using a menu board!! That's so nice your SO goes for you I must admit DH is great about stopping by the store if I run out or forget things!

@owlwho: Same here. That's the carseat I have and I'm too short, so it's hard to see over the in the seat. So, before he was old enough to just sit in the basket I would do big shopping trips with DH, one of us had a stroller and the other the shopping cart. For smaller trips I would just put the bucket in the basket. I don't know if you baby wear, but maybe that could also be an option for you when shopping, instead of a new car seat?

We got a peg perego 30/30 for LO. Baby #2 will use it probably for at least 8 months.
Baby #1 has a Britax Advocate.

@sulli301: We had a graco snugride. It wasnt bad. But I have to say - PLEASE be careful with putting the car seat on top of the cart. If you are going to put the baby in the cart, put it in the basket or get a snap n- go or a converter kit. A 3 month old died from his car seat falling off of the cart when Liv was just a few months old. And I was wearing her in Target one day and a mom had her car seat on top of the cart, and a police officer actually grabbed her to tell her how dangerous it is, especially on an incline (like from the curb down into the parking lot) or over speed bumps.

We have the Graco Snugride infant seat and the Britax Marathon convertible seat. We like both of them. We used the Graco snugride with a snap n go stroller frame.

@sulli301: The Britax Marathon has bases? Do you mean the Chaperone?
I'd get the lightest seat you can possibly get, like the Graco Snugride 22. I've never put the seat on the cart, that looks so dangerous! People can also bump your cart and your seat can slide around.

I have the Graco snugride 35, whcih works fine for us.
Are you planning on taking both babies shopping with you? I have to put DD in the seat in front and take DS in the carrier or I don't have enough room in the cart for groceries! Luckily, DH and DD usually do the shopping on the weekends, so I've only had to go once on my own with both kids.

For us the chaperone was a bit larger but the others were bad too. We just always had the stroller with us so we really only carried the carrier from the house to the car.

@Honeybee: thanks! And good idea I will probably end up using the ergo. I just read a whole bunch of information about how dangerous it was to put the seat on the cart...I had no idea! I never had to with LO but I figured I might with two kids & it was okay to do or you were supposed & was just wondering for the next baby because I see people do it a lot to but clearly not! ahh!
