I have an Eleanor, too! I can't decide if I like Caroline or Hadley better.

My name is Caroline, nn Carrie, so I'm partial How would you pronounce it? I prefer "Caro-linn," (think Kennedy) to "Caro-line," though both are pretty. And I think it pairs so nicely with Eleanor (and "Nora" is so, so cute!)

@keepcalmcarrie: I like them both, possibly leaning slightly towards Caroline?

@Finfan: For what it's worth I'd pronounce Caroline with line at the end. Carolyn gets the lin sound.

    Our LO is Hadley

We didn't think there was an easy nickname but we call her Hads a lot.

@cheesetomywhine: That's my reasoning too. I think it's more likely to be pronounced -line in this area.

@Finfan: @cheesetomywhine: yeah, I get the "line" all the time. As I said, I think that's pretty too. It is more common now for "lin" to be associated with Carolyn. But I guess, traditionally, it was the short "i" sound with the traditional spelling. Like Catherine, Jasmine, etc.

My mom gets super huffy about this, because everyone "mispronounces" my proper name. But since 99% of the time I go by my nickname, it really makes no difference!

@keepcalmcarrie: Interesting! Thanks for sharing. I wonder if it is regional as well.

@keepcalmcarrie: They are definitely both pretty. Caroline is my leading contender. Just need to get DH on board!

@JennyD: I've known one Hadley since high school and that's what her friends and family called her too. I don't know her well at all but I've always liked the name!
