When carrying your little one on your hip, do they help holding on at all? If so, when did they learn? My daughter is 12 months and she does not help at all. She makes it really difficult at times and it is getting even harder as she gets heavier Why won't she just hold on with her legs just a little. For example, if I have to carry her, the diaper bag and the grocery cover, we look like a mess and sometimes she will just be dangling from my arm.

My Lo holds on, but she's 15 months old. I can't remember if she used to hold on when she was 1.. I'm sure your Lo will soon!

I can't wait either. I get so jealous of my friends who have similar aged babies and they are holding on. They like to laugh at how ridiculous we look sometimes. I don't blame them.

My son doesn't hold on, instead he fights being carried. It's awesome, esp. when he doesn't follow the rules, like holding my hand near the pool and the consequence is being carried. Nothing like other parents staring you down!

LO is turning 1 next week and has JUST started showing signs of holding on. Mostly, no, she feels like a sack of potatoes but every now and then she might cling.

Liv holds on. Shes 1 and has been holding for probably about 3 months now I think. Right now shes in a stage where she holds on to my back with one hand, and has her front hand down my shirt shoved in my cleavage. Its a good look...lol

DD didn't hold on for the longest time so I bought a pouch sling to help hold her onto my hip. I want to say that it was after she was 18m that she actually started helping.

LO is 14mos soon and he puts his head on my shoulders and arms around my neck. once in awhile he'll move around a lot when he's curious about something and wants to look.

For some reason this thread cracks me up...especially @LivsMama:...hilarious!
My LO is 8 months and does not hold on...and she is getting heavy! She will usually be good but sometimes she wants to turn her body outward so she will put her arm/hand out and shove it into my throat so she can turn around.
