Do you match or give more?
I'll just use $50 as an example. We got married 2 years ago and a friend gave us $50. We also want to give them cash for their wedding this weekend...do you usually give the same amount or more?

Hm. Depends. I also take into consideration the location. But in Asian wedding I always match.

We usually don't give less than $100 for any weddings unless we can't make it. So we do a standard amount (more for close friends) regardless of what they gave us.

I have a standard amount, but it can go up {close family/swanky wedding} or down {cheapos/distant relative}.

We match what we were given, within reason. Usually it's only adjusted if we have to travel for their wedding and the extent to which we have to travel (cross country, just a hotel night, etc.)

Match, unless the original gift came from a super baller and it would be too much for us to give.

Depends. We tend to be more generous so we generally give more. If someone was super generous with us we match!

I never wrote down how much people gave us so I honestly don't remember exact numbers. We usually decide how much to give on a case-by-case basis by considering the following questions.
How much money do we have to give at the moment? Is it a destination wedding that requires a lot of money for flights and hotels? How close are we to the couple? We also factor in how fancy the venue is too.

@autumnlove: Same here!
We give just a tad bit more than what we received.

@autumnlove: haha i did too!
I match. honestly, if someone gets offended by our gift they are more than welcome to confront us. we are barely surviving at home right now, so I'm not really worried about gifting haha!

We normally do slightly more because we were married 4 years ago and our friends were either still in grad school or just getting their first jobs. We all have more money now.

Match, but my wedding was 5 years ago and now, we're pretty much done with weddings!

We budget for gifts for holidays, birthdays, weddings, anniversaries, etc. This usually ends up being more than what we received.
