I’m not breastfeeding but I have been using CBD oil and cannabis high in CBD for anxiety during the pandemic because my anxiety and depressive tendencies have gotten much worse. I did a lot of research before using it myself and remember seeing that they don’t advise breastfeeding moms to use it, but there isn’t a lot of research on it. From my understanding, CBD takes time to build in your body to take effect so unlike alcohol it doesn’t get flushed out (pump and dump situation) so it is possible to pass some through breast milk.
That being said, I did have a good experience using the oil on consecutive days but I am still experimenting with dosage and concentration for the brand I bought.. Definitely a few puffs of a a CBD joint gives near immediate relaxing effects when I’m very anxious but I would rather not smoke/vape over the long term and only did that a couple times. I’m in Canada so we have a wide variety of legal products to choose from here that have very clear content and dosage guidelines which I found reassuring.
I hope you’re doing well

I looked at it a bit while nursing but couldn’t find any good data - obviously I didn’t check everything out there but makes sense it might not exist. So I guess then it’s a cost benefit question with your pediatrician? There’s better data on antidepressants and nursing I believe, so might be better to stick there, but I’m no expert. Hugs to you and your new baby!

i haven't done it, but an account i follow on ig, @inhonorofdesign, was posting recently about it, i believe she has used and is using it while nursing. i would recommend looking it up, i think she recommended the woman-owned company she gets hers from and noted that they chatted with her about dosing, etc., to be compatible with breastfeeding.

I’m not breastfeeding but I tried CBD oil one time for a month. Now mind you I live in the South and marijuana is not legalized. We JUST got CBD oil approved to sell. Unfortunately it didn’t work for me. I’m not sure if it just wasn’t a good batch or maybe it doesn’t work for people who don’t have just general anxiety and depression. I’m type two bipolar so mine is an actual brain chemistry things. But I could be wrong and maybe need to do more research.
