Monica of "Just One of Them Days" fame hosted a shower for daughter. IMO the list of restrictions is just plain tacky on the front of a shower invite. Why would a friend think they could just transfer an invite to someone else?
She and her husband hosted their own shower and registry info (if any) was not on the invite. Is it still tacky for (wealthy) people to host their own showers?

Ummm... weird about the "non-transferrable". It sounds like their invite is a ticket to a big event!
I don't think it's awful for people to host their own showers if no one else did. But I would think usually in those cases, it should say something like "no gifts". At least they didn't put a registry on it!

@pui: @shopaholic: I kind of feel like their was a waiting list or a giveaway to the shower and Monica may not have even known who would show up.

I don't even know who this person is so I'm pretty sure no one is trying to sell tickets to her baby shower. Also... if you insist on your baby shower being 21+ I'm interested to see how you handle being a mother to a small child. And yes, I think it's kind of tacky to host your own baby shower.

@shutterbug my work blocked the video. Is this the same Monica that was popular at the same time as Brandy? I think they sang that song "The Boy is Mine". If so.... I'm pretty sure she stopped being famous long time ago!

Self-hosting doesn't bother me, but the restrictions and the 'non-transferable' totally come off as full on tacky.
Also, holy cow, that's a lot of glitter. I would be annoyed getting something that glittery in the mail because the glitter gets EVERYWHERE.

It really doesn't bother me that much because she is a celebrity (although D list for sure). I'm sure the age restrictions are due to the venue (21 and over place would be my guess) the no cameras would be so that pictures of her (or maybe her guests) don't get tweeted or sold to the nearest paparazzo, and the non transferrable would be the same thing to me right? Just because I'm old friends with Beyonce and Oprah from my big years doesn't mean you can selly our invite to the TMZ people and they can come in.

I'm thinking the non-transferable part means she thinks she's more famous than she really is... like, if Mariah Carey or someone sent out invites. LOL.
