When do you get EWCM vs when do you get a positive opk? At the same time? Or does your cm come first and +opk later? Trying to figure out why I'm not getting +opks...
I've had EWCM for two days now but no + on my opk strips. I've been ttc for #2 for 7 months and at first I was just using an app and going by cm, but I think the app had me thinking my fertile period was later then it actually is. Just started opks for the last two cycles and haven't got a positive yet.

@lady grey: I usually start getting watery cm before a positive OPK. The Ewcm comes right after for me even the same day most cycles. What day do you begin testing? How long is your cycle?

Usually I'll get EWCM one day, +OPK the next day, and ovulate the day after that.
You'll usually ovulate within 12-36 hours after a positive OPK.

I would get EWCM on and off irregularly both before and after a positive OPK, and sometimes not at all.
When are you testing with your OPK? If your LH surge is short, you might be missing it. I tested three times a day in order to ensure I caught my surge.

EWCM happens for about 4-5 days prior to ovulation. When it stops for a day or two, I can be pretty sure that I've ovulated. Are you doing the OPKs twice a day? I'd suggest doing them in the morning and again in the afternoon every day after your period stops. It's a pain in the ass but then you can't miss your surge and you'll get an idea of how everything correlates.

@LoveHope: @Adira: I started testing in cd10 and got ewcm on day 11. I'm not terribly consitent with my testing, but I have been doing once a day at 2-5pm. If you test more then once per day what time do you do the other test?

wow there seems to be a lot of variation in when gals get ewcm vs when they get the +opk, I guess I thought they could correlate more closely!
@MrsKoala: what times of day did you test? I've only been doing once per day in the afternoon and haven't been starting until right before I *think* i'm about to ovulate.

@lady grey: I used to test first thing in the morning (around 5:30 a.m.), at noon, and again in the evening around 7:00 p.m. If your LH surge only lasts 12 hours, you may miss it by only testing once a day. When I started using OPKs, I tested three times until I saw it and knew it lasted long enough to test less.

@lady grey: I'd test when I woke up in the morning (I know people say not to use FMU but it was fine for me) and then again when I got home from work (4:30 ish).

@lady grey: The first month, I did, so that I'd know how long my surge was so I'd have a better idea of how often I'd need to test following cycles. Once it was no longer positive, I stopped testing.

I always tested first thing in the morning then right after work. Are you holding it for a few hours before you test?

@lady grey: Yes, for the first two months that I did it just to see it fade out. I'd usually get two positives in a row and then a fade out.

@MrsKoala: and what does the fade out actually mean? Are you just trying to catch the full time frame that you get positives?
@Crystal: I hold my pee for maybe 2 hrs before the test, is that long enough?

@lady grey: Yep. So basically I kept testing after I got a positive to see what happened and noticed that I'd get two positives (about 12 hours apart) and then the test line would get lighter and lighter (fade out essentially).

I didn't get a positive opk the first month I used them either and was totally discouraged, last month I tested twice a day starting on cd9 and got a positive on cd14. I kept testing until it faded. I would test first thing in the morning and then in the evening when I got home from work.

@Ajsmommy: I think I will do this plan next month too...need to test more. This last cycle I got an almost positive and then it started to fade out, so I think I just missed it.

@lady grey: the first month I was only testing once a day and I'm assuming I missed my surge that month with the OPK. so last month I did 2 a day and even 3 the day I got my + just to be sure. Unfortunately for me we didn't get ku'd, even with good timing for BD.. but I'm going to do it again this month and fx it works!!!
I'd assume you just missed yours too with only testing once a day....

I get EWCM for about two days before my positive OPK. When the line starts getting darker on my OPK I start testing twice a day.
