So, last night I learned that my husband had colic. He didn't know and his mom was like, "we'll, of course you know DH had colic!" Well, we didn't know. Does that somehow increase our lo's ones chances of having it or is just a chance thing whether they get it or not? That's probably the thing I'm most worried about. DH works out of town and I'm afraid we will have a colicky baby and I'll be dealing with it by myself and at my wit's end.

@regberadaisy: thanks for the link! It makes sense that DH was colicky since he has always had gas/reflux issues, but now I know to be on the lookout.

@Jennimac: My baby was SO fussy I googled like a mad woman and blamed every reason until I found the cause! Which of her was dairy.

My baby had colic. I never found a source as she was not sensitive to dairy or other foods she was on reflux meds but I dont think she realky had reflux. She was just POd unless I was bouncing her or walking around with her. She would not nap or be content at all ever! My dh had colic so I blame him
Around 3 months old she turned a new leaf and got over it. It was hard but survivable.

I was REALLY colicky but luckily (for my mom) that my siblings didn't have it and (lucky for me) my daughter didn't have it at all!

I was apparently a nightmare baby and labeled as colicky. My DD has been just like her mama and we found out she was MSPI. In hindsight I wonder if I had MSPI but nobody knew about it yet. As far as your LO chances are they'll be fine but if not you'll get through it!

My niece was classic MSPI as in infant looking back on it. My mom says my sister was colicky (again likely MSPI). My son was MSPI horribly. My husband has Cystic Fibrosis so no one thought he would live past 2 years old but has a lot of digestive issues.
So, from my experience I would say that it is a possiblity. The good thing is that you have some knowledge already. If you think there is a problem, cut out Milk and Soy for a few weeks. Or push through and most people say it ends around 8 weeks.

@brownie: I wonder too how many of us that were "colicky" likely just had digestive issues. And our parents didn't know better!
My DH has/had horrible digestive issues but it was pretty clear on his front it was the formula so he was put on Soy immediately.

@regberadaisy: I wish I was a doctor and could do a study. Seriously, it wouldn't kill anyone to follow up with a bunch of moms and babies and see if they were colicky and if reflux or other food irritated it.
The other one I want to research is that I think kids with reflux and other digestive issues roll over faster because it feels better to be on their tummies.
