@chibee: I think we are complete cycle twins...lol.
but still had a negative OPK today (tested twice) I'm just freaking out I guess.. before I had the unknown... now I have too much information!!! lol I'm pretty sure I'm out this cycle anyway with DH being away!

@mrssquirreld: Hang in there! When I got off BC, it took me 6 whole months to get regular which was so annoying.

@kpow: I was never on BCP... But I have started new medication and I'm thinking that has stuffed my cycles up
pear / 1974 posts
@mrssquirreld: don't worry, i was thinking that cycle maybe i was stressing myself out w/the OPKs (learning how to use them, waiting FOREVER for a positive, etc.) and that's why O was delayed for me? could be the same for you!
With all the TTC info and charting info... once you know, you can never un-know. None of us, I think, can truly go back to being in the "we'll just see what happens" camp once we start actively TTC - how am I not supposed to think about what cycle day i'm in, or if i'm close to O, or anything like that???

@chibee: exactly my thoughts! It will be interesting to see my temps tomorrow...so we'll see.

@chibee: nice temp rise!
@evenstar982: Crosshairs!!!!! Congrats!!
@grace: how are you doing TWW buddy? I'm still stressfree at this point because I know symptom spotting is pointless, but starting tomorrow that'll change. Have you set a POAS date?
cantaloupe / 6730 posts
@ladybee: Doing pretty good actually. Not really symptom spotting. I think after this many times, I may have learned my lesson! My POAS date is Halloween, but I'll probably just wait to see if AF doesn't show. I'm glad thinks are relatively stress free for you!
pear / 1974 posts
@ladybee: thank you! exactly my thoughts this morning! It's good that you've been able to remain stress free. I keep reading that it is definitely pointless to symptom spot in the TWW bc it really is way, way too early to be REALLY feeling symptoms, so that's my strategy for my upcoming TWW as well. Good luck to you!!

Good Morning ladies! I wanted to post an update on my chart. This is my first official chart w/ crosshairs (yay!) This morning I got a HUGE spike in temp. I normally have 30-32 day cycles and by now I will normally have spotting (which I haven't had any of yet.)
I'm hoping my temps stay up! Is a huge spike like this "normal"? I originally thought my POAS date would be Halloween but I was looking at calendar days instead of my cycle days... -_- total newbie! haha I will most likely POAS Oct 29
grapefruit / 4703 posts
@kpow: THAT, my friend, looks like the start of a triphasic chart! Don't want to get your hopes up, but if it stays up there that would be a goooood sign.
grapefruit / 4703 posts
@chibee: There's that temp spike! Guess you did O yesterday. Woohoo TWW!
pear / 1974 posts
@kpow: good morning! just added you that temp spike is crazy!! that can only mean positive things I think!
clementine / 957 posts
@shutterbug , @chibee: I totally just went to FF and read up on triphasic- I had no idea what that meant! I'm glad it's considered a "good" sign! Thanks
cantaloupe / 6730 posts
@kpow: Holy smokes, that's an awesome jump! Fingers crossed that you get more high temps!
clementine / 957 posts
Thanks @cherrybee and @grace ! It's really tough to not POAS earlier haha.
apricot / 284 posts
@ladybee: thanks! I am not wholly convinced; my temps still seem pretty low, just barely above the coverline, so we'll see if they stay for a few more days to gauge my LP I guess. We did actually BD in the right sorta window around my supposed O date, so there is a vaguest of vague changes I might be kinda-sort-maybe in a TWW right now but I'm not thinking of it like that, just trying to focus on feeling good that signs are starting to point towards my body 'getting back to normal'!
@kpow: wow, good chart! I've added you to my FF friend list, and now off to re-read on triphasic charts and remind myself what they are!

@evenstar982: I'm so excited for your crosshairs. I think they're definitely right!

@marionberry: aw thanks! I'm feeling suspiciously crampy/bloated today though so thinking AF is probably near which is going to mean short LP this cycle, BUT on the plus side; at least it looks like I probably did ovulate, which is better than last month!
grapefruit / 4079 posts
Just hanging out at CD 24 (7dpo). Last cycle was a 28 day cycle so that's Tuesday (11dpo) which is a little short for my 13 day lp. Trying have enough control to wait until Tuesday or Wednesday to test.
I really like not temping after the TWW. I feel like there is no false hope or huge disappointment by what my temps do. It almost feels like our first cycle TTC and temping where I had no clue what to look for!
pomelo / 5041 posts
@ladybee: You almost have me convinced to do it. Except I really love knowing when AF is on her way. I hope you get a BFP this time!
clementine / 957 posts
@ladybee: I didn't really want to keep temping for the TWW either but I'm not as familiar with the process, so I figured I'd just do the entire cycle to see what my temps look like, even though I am aware of how much they can change even from month to month!
I'm feeling really crampy and gassy! We're having pretty strong winds in our area, so my allergies are also acting up. Trying not to get too pessimistic OR optimistic about any symptoms. If AF is on her way, I should expect spotting today or tomorrow for sure.
honeydew / 7916 posts
@ladybee: So glad it's making you feel good! Not temping can make you so much more relaxed!
AF showed up today, so onto cycle 8. I had to laugh at the fact that for all the trouble I had figuring out O without charting and with my screwy OPKs, she still showed up exactly when I would have guessed without a single temp or OPK! So I'll go in tomorrow for my b/w and am scheduling my HSG for next week, and then we should be all done with our testing. Yay!
honeydew / 7916 posts
Also @chibee hope you're going to be okay over there at the Shore. Please stay safe!

@spaniellove: I'm sorry about AF - but I'm delighted to read that your testing is progressing well. I really hope that the testing makes you feel more positive, it's good to be able to actually do something, huh?

@KPOW "Trying not to get too pessimistic OR optimistic about any symptoms. "
Yes! This is a tricky balance, isn't it? I want to be excited about this time, but I don't want to get ahead of myself. I really relate to this feeling.

Okay, now that I'm a little more comfortable with charting, I thought I'd start posting in this thread :). Just finished up my second cycle of charting, 4th cycle overall. Onto cycle 5!

@HappyGal: Yesss.. I tend to get over excited while DH really wants me to keep a level head. I asked him how we should announce to our family if this is our month and he is like, "Let's just get to Sunday and test and THEN we'll think about that!" He gets as anxious I think but this is his way of getting too excited! Poor guy, I sometimes forget he's going through this too!

Hi Charters, I have a question for you. What do you think about adjusting temps? My "official" temping time is 6am when the alarm goes off, but I keep finding myself waking up early (4-5am, yuck!) and thinking about temping until I finally take it and can fall back asleep. FF says no, but other places say yes, so not sure who to believe... My chart looks much less erratic when its adjusted too
pomelo / 5041 posts
@mrs.someone: If you keep waking up between 4-5 then maybe set an alarm to get up at 4 and temp and then go back to bed? This way you never have to adjust? Otherwise, I've found that if I wake up and then go back to bed, as long as I'm not awake for a long period of time, it doesn't really affect my temps, so you may not need to adjust them. But if they seem really wonky, I do adjust a temperature here and there if something prevents me from temping at my normal time. I just wouldn't do it too often.
clementine / 957 posts
@mrs.someone: I normally wake up at 4:45am everyday for work, but I also set my alarm for the weekends and just pass out after I mark my temp. My temp changes pretty drastically if I even get up to go to the restroom!
grapefruit / 4703 posts
@Mrs.Someone: sometimes if I wake up early and I HAVE to get up and pee, I'll temp, then go pee, go back to sleep, and temp again at the regular time. Usually it's not too different (.1-.2 or so). If I wake up and just roll over or stay still then I don't temp early.
pomelo / 5228 posts
Thanks for the suggestions @marionberry, @kpow, and @Shutterbug! I don't want to voluntarily make myself wake up at 4am though (or wake up DH). I'm hoping that I eventually get used to temping and adjust back to normal. Its my brain that keeps me awake until I temp if I wake up early.
So just curious if anyone has any insight on adjusting the temp for time (not how to avoid it)?

I've been following this thread for a little while but I don't think I have posted yet. Here is a little info on us: DS & I are following the Creighton model/NFP. I am now cycle 8 post BC. cycle 7 I got REALLY lazy and didn't observe much at all. Then AF was 3 days late (I always started a new cycle on day 28) and I was sure I would get a BFP I got BFN & then AF showed up. I have PSOC and recently got started on Metformin so my cycles might just be starting the lengthen out post BC (honestly I don't even know if I have O'd yet). I promised myself I would never get lazy on my observations and charting....GUESS WHAT HAPPENED! I got laaaaaazzzzy! Then yesterday when I happened to check I had CCM.
I got lazy once we decided to put TTC on hold when the DS's health went down hill 3 months ago so we aren't...well we just aren't that active right now anyways. It has helped a great deal with the let down when AF shows up however I know that is not the right way to deal with the let down or my cycles.
So, who else has been on the lazy train and how did you get off it!?! What made you continue observing knowing your not TTC or avoiding. Or even pp, what have your experience been?
pear / 1974 posts
@Spaniellove: thank you! we should be ok but definitely stocking up on some things tonight just in case! Maybe life jackets for my pups
cantaloupe / 6730 posts
@Mrs.Someone: I think the problem with adjusting is that how waking up affects you varies from person to person. For me, waking up briefly doesn't change my temp. Going downstairs to the bathroom doesn't even change it. So adjusting it would give false data for my chart. On the other hand, it could be that you are textbook and the adjusting would work perfectly. I think the only way you could do it and feel that it was pretty accurate would be to temp when you wake, and temp again at your normal time. Then track both temps and see if there's a pattern. Sorry i don't have a quick and easy answer for you!
