@ladybee: I'm sorry! You'll have a baby soon, I just know it!
@grace: I get the not wanting to test part, it's like delaying the negative news, but I still feel like your chart could be telling you something positive this month.

@marionberry @grace: sorry I dropped off the face of the Earth, I've been in a mood! Today is 13dpo and still a BFN.

@ladybee: No worries. We've all been there.
My temp dropped this morning, so I think I'll be out soon.

@ladybee:I'm sorry! It happens to us all. I'd buy you a drink if I lived close.
@grace: I saw your drop this morning and felt so bad. *hugs*

@marionberry: Meh - somehow, this one isn't so bad. :). Thanks though.

I have a question...
In what situation would you "discard" a temp reading?
grapefruit / 4703 posts
@.twist.: if you were drinking the night before and your temp is artificially high, or if you got up a bunch of times in the night and you think it affected your temp, or something like that. I discarded my temp from yesterday (here's my chart: http://www.fertilityfriend.com/home/392d2e) because I had gotten up to go to the bathroom like, an hour before. I still recorded it just in case, but I knew it was way too high.
cantaloupe / 6730 posts
@.twist.: I never discard a temp. I will put a note on it and sometimes ignore it in my mind. I feel it could be a slippery slope where I might start discarding temps to make my chart look prettier. And that defeats the purpose.

Hi all! thank you so much for those who were concerned. My house is ok, just lots of cleanup to do in the yard, my inlaws, who live closer to the beach, weren't so lucky. Their house was totally flooded and they stayed w/us through the hurricane and looks like they will stay with us indefinitely. the house is devastated. it's been hard and we just started doing some cleanup but it looks like the house might not be salvageable. We came to our brother-in-law's to do some laundry, recharge some things, get gas, etc. this is crazy, i've never been through anything like this in my life, and i hope anyone that was affected by Sandy is doing ok. Dying to check people's charts but so much to do (pay bills, etc!) during the short time i have on the computer! Btw, this is making my TWW fly by! haha
honeydew / 7916 posts
@chibee: I'm so glad you're (relatively) okay! Left you my email on your wall; if you need anything at all DO NOT hesitate to tell me! I can lend you an inverter, bring you food, batteries, etc. And so sorry to hear about your in-laws' home.
pomelo / 5041 posts
@.twist.: I agree with @Grace...try not to discard temps unless you have a very valid reason for doing so. One time I had to take a flight for a work trip and was up at 1am instead of 6am, so I had to take a temperature but knew in no way was it accurate. I tend to be like @Grace and just note why I'm concerned about the temp and in the end if it's an oddball I could choose to discard it. Like her, I worry that I'll start discarding temps because I don't like how non-fertile my chart looks lol.
honeydew / 7916 posts
@.twist.: I've discarded temps if I absolutely couldn't sleep all night (it's happened) so even an open circle wouldn't be helpful. Even then, I write a note for that day so I have some kind of record of what happened. I don't like to toss out temps for the sake of "shaping" a chart because ugly but accurate charts are more helpful in the end unfortunately.

Really hoping my cycle will be longer than 30 days. My chart looks so pretty

@spaniellove thank you so much for thinking of me, i finally got power back tonight! i'm incredibly lucky, point pleasant was really just hard hit and i am one of the first blocks with power!!
@grace thank you for thinking of me as well! and damn your temp drop to hell!
pear / 1974 posts
@mrssquirreld: your chart sure is pretty, i'm positive your cycle will be way longer than 30 days.
grapefruit / 4079 posts
@grace: how are things going on your end? I'm sorry you had such a temp drop! Looks like we will be cycle buddies again
I don't know what I'd do without you and @marionberry. I'm 14 dpo and still BFN. I'm disappointed. Last cycle was 28 days and I was hoping this one would be as well. Now I'm at 31. My temp this morning was below CL again so I'm expecting AF today or tomorrow.
cantaloupe / 6730 posts
@ladybee: I think it's coming? Last night I thought I saw a spot, so I expected AF in full force this morning. But it's just spotting. Very weird, cause I never used to spot. And yet, last month I did before AF, I had spotting with O this month and again today. I hope nothing "bad" has happened to change things in there.
I'm sorry. I hate looking at the negative tests. I've stopped buying them because it gets me so down. BUT, 31 days is fine! It's totally within the realm of normal and that means your body is getting ready to do this thing! I really believe your BFP is just around the corner. Hugs!
cantaloupe / 6206 posts
Oh guys I"m so sorry for everyone at the end of the TWW with temp drops and BFNs. No no no no no, I do not accept. (((hugs)))
pomelo / 5041 posts
@grace: I saw your temp go up today...don't want to get hopes up but could it be one of those "looks like period then bfp charts"? Or do you think the spotting is pre AF?
@ladybee: I'm sorry AF is teasing you with no period still. Do you have a bottle of wine handy? Jk. If you need to vent I'm here.
@mrssquirreld,@chines: nice charts ladies!

Good morning charters! Anyone up for some confusion, a la, my chart? Its extra confusing because I didn't start charting until after when I assume I O'd, so not sure where the coverline would be. But if it follows the one time I did chart the whole month, then it would be at 97.6. I tend to think I'm out here, but no signs of AF yet and my boobs still hurt...
cantaloupe / 6730 posts
@Mrs.Someone: You chart is looking pretty normal for you. If you are out it probably won't be until tomorrow or maybe Sat (your O day could be off a day). You don't have to pay too much attention to coverline, just look at the trend. It's going down, which isn't a great sign, buy it could go back up again, so you aren't out yet.
@marionberry: Oh, I'm pretty sure it's pre AF spotting, but I also haven't taken my ward-off-AF-cramps-motrin yet either, so anything is possible.
pomelo / 5228 posts
@Grace - Thanks for the interpretation. Thats pretty much what I think too. The other odd thing is that it appears that I O'd on CD12, where normal is CD16 (where I also had a big rise, but no CM). Otherwise, AF is due on Sat or Sun. I was hoping today's temp would be more conclusive, but nope!

Hi Everyone,
I've been lurking on this board for a few months. I feel like i've been playing double dutch, getting a feel for each swing of the rope and just this week jumped in.
Long story short - Was on Oral BC for over 10 years consistently, I have psoriasis and was on a Humira/Methotrexate regiment for 4 years. I stopped the MTX in March and the Humira in Sept. Been with the hubs for 7 years married for 2. This year we had 3 new babies born into our lives via friends and family, we decided awhile ago to start trying after my best friends wedding in October. Then Hubs was laid off over Labor Day, TTC - no go, Hubs got a great new job and starts in 2 weeks. Yay!
While he would prefer to wait until he's settled at his new job I'm anxious and scared because I have no idea how my body will react post BC. I presented a convincing argument that this month I am done with BC and on to charting so that when i go to the OB/GYN in Dec. I'll have some info to bring her. So we may be avoiding, NTNT, or trying.... I left that up to hubs to decide and if we happen to get a + so be it.
So CD 1 was 10/29 and i'm using Fertility Friend you can follow me here - http://www.fertilityfriend.com/home/ChillyBear
I have probably a billion questions but i will limit myself to 2 - Where's my coverline and why are some dots open and some solid? and so far this week I've found it very hard to temp at the same time...tips? will it affect my chart so far times have been from 5am-7:30am
I would love to follow your charts do you mind posting your links?
Thanks for helping out the newbee
cantaloupe / 6206 posts
@Chillybear: Hi!! I mostly lurk on this thread but since I'm here thought I'd answer your questions
You don't usually get your crosshairs (coverline and ovulation day) until 2-3 days after you ovulate! So hang tight and keep temping.
Open circles mean you temped about 30 mins or more outside of the normal window when you usually do, so it's a less reliable data point. FF takes that into account when giving you your CH. Temping at different times therefore WILL affect your chart, so try to keep it within the same hour if possible. Good luck! Oh and congrats to your DH on his new job!!

@JoJoGirl: Thanks for the warm welcome! I kinda felt like the new kid in school joining the charting pros.
So if this is my first month charting I won't know I O'd until after or is there an temp indicator before hand? just CM?
cantaloupe / 6206 posts
@Chillybear: Yep, that's the problem with charting as a method for TTC, you don't know you ovulated until after the fact. The first month you guys are TTC instead of NTNT, you can try to use OPKs that will give you a head's up (or yes, CM), but in general charting tells you you already ovulated, and then if your cycles are regular, that helps you predict it next month. I, like you, came off birth control after 10 years so my cycles just started to regulate when I got my BFP (6 cycles). The thing that was most helpful to me about charting was cycles 2 and 3 I used OPKs but didn't chart, and when I started charting cycle 4 it seemed I was ovulating the same day the OPK turned positive (vs. 1-2 days later). We were missing prime BD time! Once I knew that, I got a CBE fertility monitor and was able to get a longer predictive window for O.

@Chillybear: Welcome back to possibly TTC! We chatted (about MTX and the like) a few weeks back and I felt dreadful for you when your hubby was laid off. I'm so glad he got a new job (congrats to him!) and I'm delighted you've decided to start charting! I've added you! Just a tip, change your nickname on FF - if you don't, you will show to all of us as a weird number!
grapefruit / 4703 posts
@Chillybear: Hi Welcome! I just added you to my friends list on FF - here's my chart: http://www.fertilityfriend.com/home/392d2e
With charting you won't know whether you O'ed until after your temp goes up (and stay up for 3 days... that's when you get your crosshairs) You can use CM, or OPKs to give you a heads up of when you're about to O. Some of the ladies on here (ahem @JoJoGirl) use(d) a CBEFM too, which gives you an even bigger heads up of when you'll O.
Congrats to your DH!
ETA: well gee, I guess I'm a slow typer! Jojo beat me to it

@Cherrybee: Thanks! I'm officially ChillyBear on FF. We were pleasantly surprised and very grateful when Hubs unemployment was only about 2 months long.
I personally think it would be fine to get pregnant this month we'd have an august baby - Hubs and I are both august babies. But if he's really not comfortable until he starts working we should be using other methods.
nectarine / 2530 posts
@Chillybear: Welcome! I sent you a friend request on FF :). Here's mine (I'm lazy about temping during my period, so I typically start up once that slacks off. Or a few days later *cough cough*). Gearing up to O sometime early next week. I'm really debating whether I want to use OPKs again this month (I need to buy more if so) or just wing it based on my last two months.

Hi @Chillybear! Nice of you to join us! I added you as a friend on FF. Here is a link to my chart.

@grace: I would really love for your chart to turn into a BFP chart and your spotting to go away. I know 31 is normal but I don't get why my cycle bounces from 28 days to 32 days or whatever its going to be this month. Thank goodness for @spaniellove and her generousity because I think I'd be losing my mind!
@marionberry: I will be drinking this weekend!
pomelo / 5041 posts
@ladybee: Glad to hear it! Me too! I'm in the drink til its pink camp and so we picked up two new bottles of wine today. I only ever have a glass every so often, but I love my cab sav! DH said to enjoy it while I still can.
@chillybear: Welcome! I added you as a friend on FF but
Here's My Ovulation Chart.
grapefruit / 4079 posts
@marionberry: lol I'm with you, I too am "drink till its pink". Especially with every cycle that passed. No point in changing my life for something that doesn't exist yet! I love some sweet whites and pinks. My parents live in a wine area and I always stock up when I'm visiting. We're going next weekend so ill be stocking up again!
pomelo / 5041 posts
@ladybee: I used to be totally into sweet wines! Somehow my cravings changed and now I love the dark stuff. But I totally agree about not waiting...if I'd committed to that I wouldn't have gotten to drink alcohol or even coffee for that matter since April. Man would that have sucked! I hope your day has gotten a bit better!
