We are celebrating Christmas tomorrow with family...I'm not sure what I should make for dinner tonight? I guess I should class it up a notch and cook something special!
What are you eating tonight?

I'm Italian, so growing up, we always did a big Christmas Eve fish dinner. Since most of the girlfriends/boyfriends/husbands/wives weren't Italian, they and their SOs from my family would do Christmas at their family's house, so Christmas was just a traditional ham and other stuff for the smaller family group. So that's what I still do today - either my dad and stepmom (only family in town) come over and I cook all the fishes, or like today when I'm 8.5 months pregnant and refusing to cook seafood all day, we go over to their place. Then Christmas is just for DH and I.

DH is making beef stroganoff and salad. Then we're going to church. After church we'll go back to DH's parents, along with DH's sisters and their children, for hot hors d'oeuvres, a cold seafood plate and champagne (for everyone who isn't pregnant).

Christmas tradition for Jews: go out for Chinese food! (It's usually all that's open.) It's also kind of a treat for my hubby, because I don't usually get excited for Chinese, but...it's tradition!

We host Christmas eve dinner every year. This year we have 7 guests and DH is cooking. He is doing bruschetta to start, then pan fried duck breasts with baby roasted potatoes and bacony cabbage for main, then I have made a chocolate torte for dessert.

Dinner with friends. We are bringing the bbq turkey (because our tradition in SoCal is to bbq over the winter break because we can), sweet potatoes, green beans and carrots. Our friends are making mashed potatoes, pies (pumpkin and apple), and gluten free rolls.
It's kind a hard to make food for everyone as we have milk allergy, soy allergy, pork allergy, gluten allergy and peanut allergy.

last night we had a big get-together with family and we had smoked turkey, a ham, wild rice salad, sweet potatoes, regular mashed potatoes, and for dessert cookies, rum cake, and trifle. Tonight it is just my parents, DH and I so we are doing a crock pot meal. Tomorrow we will have brunch (quiche, fruit salad, latkes) and then go over to my cousin's house for christmas dinner.

@ladyfingers: my family does shrimp scampi every year. I've only not had fish/seafood once on Christmas Eve and it was kinda weird!

Christmas Eve is a big extended family dinner/party w/DHs family. This year my parents and brother were even invited. Typical holiday main dishes & potluck style. I'm brining Butternut Squash Penne Pasta w/Goat Cheese, Basil, and Walnuts. Christmas Day dinner is probably w/the IL's though we haven't confirmed anything yet.

Since we had no plans, we ended up eating waffles with blueberry sauce and hashbrowns for dinner. We're still hungry though, so we're headed out the door now for a carry-out pizza.
