We have been trying to follow the want, need, wear & read guidelines for Christmas presents and this year I am wondering (since DD is older now) how do stockings fit into this equation? Do you just fill them with random small toys and treats, or are they part of the WNWR?

We do them separately. Santa fills stockings and leaves one "family" present. We do want, need, learn, read from us.

We're still undecided on whether we're doing "Santa" yet but depending on the item. One of their want/need/read/wear might end up in the stocking! i.e. For my 3.5 she's getting some fun critter socks for wear and they're going in her stocking.

I'm going to do extra small things in the stocking. So we end up doing Want, Need, Wear, Read, Share (bigger item for my twins to share), and Stockings

I thought want, need, wear, read was only from santa! It never dawned on me to not do it that way!

Last year my daughter was only 4 months at Christmas so we just did WNWR in her stocking. She was little and her stuff didn't take up much room plus she didn't "get" the whole thing anyway. This year we will do WNWR as actual wrapped gifts and then small goodies for her stocking.

I'm doing her wear in her stocking because it's small enough. Along with a few other things like bibs.
