Our son just turned one! I had never heard the word "doljanchi" until after he was born - so I was very nervous about throwing him a party that incorporated the Korean customs of my husband's family in his party. That being said - I think it went well! We decided to have the party at our home (we recently moved and a lot of our friends hadn't been to our new house) and have Korean food and rice cakes catered. We also got some delicious cupcakes from a local bakery.

Fortunately, we were able to get my friend and co-worker (Josh of Stamm Photography) to take photos of the party. He just blogged them: http://stammphotography.wordpress.com/2013/10/20/cliftons-first-birthday/

I put a lot of thought into the party.... while it wasn't nearly as fancy as a lot of the Korean First Birthdays I've seen on HelloBee or ones that I got inspiration from online - I'm happy with the way it turned out! Thanks to all you ladies who post ideas, photos, and inspirations for your parties - it made the planning so much easier (and fun)!

Also.... Cliff picked the pencil! I for sure thought he was going to pick string - and my husband was convinced he was going to pick the ball. We were both wrong!
