Anyone ever considered having their children (or actually had their children) close together with one of the main reasons being to get past the baby stage quicker? I'm honestly considering this. I am just not a baby person.. I LOVE my baby because she is more than just a baby, but I just don't love the baby stage as much as I think I love the child stage. I would be happy with just one but DH is dead set on another.
By close together I mean TTC when LO is 2, but I know others do it much sooner!

This was a big part of our thinking!! We ended up with two kids 22 months apart...

I think we'll do this but mainly because of our ages (I'm 32 now and just had A three months ago) and I have PCOS so things could take us longer than planned. DH wants me to start popping the next one out pretty soon but the thought of more morning sickness makes me want to cry, lol.

This was a big part of my reasoning (they're 23 months apart). I didn't want them so close that I had two babies, but I did want to be done with pregnancy and be able to move my family on to the next stage. I loved their babyhoods, but it's a lot of work and because we only want two it's nice to not drag it out? Especially as I want to build my freelance business which is really hard while sleep deprived and without childcare!

Oh, and people would say "wow, you forgot fast!" because I had the most miserable pregnancies, and I said no, just wanted it over with.

@Mrs. Superhero: I hear you on the difficulties of building a business while sleep deprived!! I'm amazed you can build a business while also without childcare!!! We're barely managing *with* childcare!

i also wanted to get past the baby stage fast. i loved the toddler stage!
but now that charlie is 3 and olive is 16 months, it's way harder than when he was 2 and she was under 1. still i'm glad with the way it worked out! we wanted to concentrate the suffering!

@mrs.superhero Yeah I don't think one can forget that quickly...can they?! Haha. I would go even closer than starting TTC when LO is 2, but I'm thinking along the lines of what you said about not having the first one still being a baby...and the last one took only one try so I'm thinking maybe the next one will happen quickly as well? (Hopefully.)

@mrbee: I'm barely managing anything honestly. I did between them but with two? Not happening. I've started a new blog that I'm trying to build, plus writing here (and not crossposting so google doesn't hate me) and I've done no freelance work since Christmas. It'll come though, just not this week.
@googly-eyes: I didn't feel ready and then all of a sudden when she was 14 months I thought "okay, anytime is fine, it'll probably take a bit". Pregnant the next week.

Yes- I want to be done young. I want about 4 kids and I want to be like 40, with some teenage kids, no 5 year olds! I'm 24 right now.
Then I'll sell all stuff baby and just raise my kids all close together.

We want 4 kids and spacing them farther than 2-3 apart would mean that we're having babies/dealing with babies for a looooong time...something that I'm really not up to doing. We're planning on having them all fairly close together. We're going to talk about TTC #2 when little E turns a year old. We may wait a little longer than that but probably not.

I'm with you! I love the child stage more then the infant stage and therefore want my kids close. I'd like to ttc #2 when LO is apprx. 1

I've always been told to get the diaper stage done as close together as possible, but they don't really bother me much. My big goal was to get him walking before getting super pregnant again.
I liked the baby stage, he couldn't really talk back and had to go along with what I wanted to do. He is MUCH more fun now that he is getting into the toddler stage though.

LO is just over 10 months and we're thinking of starting again soon for the same reason. My sister and I are 21 months apart and we are so close--we'd like that for our kids, too.

It's also nice bc you don't have to store or rebuy baby gear. Just remember that there is at least a ten month delay from ttc and number two joining. So if you start trying wen your first is two then they would be at least 34-36 mo this apart. I do t think that's a close gap at all.
