I belong to a few local buy/sell groups. There are a few random items I received at my baby shower that I want to sell, but I'm reading that people will be able to see what I post, even in a closed group, on my newsfeed?!
Supposedly only members of a closed group can see the posts in there but I am nervous! I will be so embarrassed if the person ever found out I was selling what they gave me!

I'm in a few private groups and have never had issues with posts being visible elsewhere (at least to my knowledge). And one of my playgroup groups has a few people who are very keen on privacy, so I don't think they would belong if the group was somehow not private.

write in the post that you got two! then if anyone ever sees it/questions it they can assume you're keeping theirs???

@snowjewelz: I think there is a difference between a closed group and a private group. Other people who are in the Closed group will see your posts in their timeline, but those who are not members of this group should not as they don't' have the privileges. The buy/sell ones I'm in on FB has so many members, I would be scared to do it there.
I'm a part of due date groups and those have never been seen by other FB friends, because they are locked down tight.

There's a difference between a closed group and a secret group. Which one are you in? A closed group just means that you need to be invited to join, but that people can see what you post. A secret group is both closed AND only the people in the group can see what you post.

@LuLu Mom: I'd feel okay doing it; I searched and that person is not in that group for sure and we don't even live in the same county so it wouldn't make sense for her to join anyway. It's just kinda scary!
@loki: Ugh I know! And I got blue bibs/towels even though I'm having a girl.. She has 2 boys so I feel like these are re-gifts 
And I got this play mat thing that's really strange; I already got the one I registered for so I have no use for it!

I see that I've commented on someone's post in a closed group (a local mommies group) and it's on my timeline activity!
BUT THEN.. On the symbol next to the activity it does say members of the group, versus my friends, or so and so's friends... Hmmm

This weekend someone tagged me in a pic posted through our closed group and my family members "liked it.". I think the tagging made it public because I've never seen anyone outside the group comment or like one of the group posts/pics before.

I'm in a "secret" Facebook group, and the stuff from the group shows up on my timeline, because i'm in the group, but it definitely doesn't show on other people's. With secret groups, I'm pretty sure you can't even search or see the group's name or that it exists. For a closed group, you can search and see the group and its description, but you still can't read posts in the group and they won't show on anyone's timeline who is not in the group.

Only members can see what you post in a closed group. My husband surely would have said something by now if he had seen any of the posts I have made in closed groups!
Honestly, if I didn't want them, because they were gifts I don't need to recoup any money for, so I would donate them.
